Hey, I have a question about switching insurance from one car to another and registering it using the same plates. This is the deal..
I have registered and insured a car I've bought over a year ago. It has a license plate, registered and everything but has been sitting in a lot being fixed slowly since I've bought it. I am about to buy a 240sx and want to register and insure that car with a different insurance company than i'm using now.
So basically, I want to take the plates off the old car, switch my insurance along with the plate to the new car and register it. Would this be a problem? The old car would be sitting in a lot getting fixed and I will see what I do with it later down the road.
Also, do I physically have to take the license plate to the dmv to register it, since it's already been registered, can they just switch it without the plates?
Thanks. Hope I made it kind of comprehensible.
