Ok so I decided to take my car out for a spin this weekend and when rolling out on 1st gear there is a significant amount of vibration(I mean the whole car and shift knob) but this mostly happens when you are kinda letting the car almost to stall. I went on the road and then I heard a squeaking/grinding noise right below the shift knob. The noise and vibration go away when I downshift or when I'm at high RPMs. The car shifts very smothly and gears change w/o any problems, the only problem is that noise and the vibration I'm getting.
I was thinking about being the drive-shaft installed incorrectly, but I didn't take it apart yet to find out. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
It's a 1989 240sx with B-Top SR20DET. I have replaced the master and slave clutch cylinder in the past because the car wouldn't shift, but that's all good now.

Broken Tranny or engine mounts
Check to see if carrier bearing support bracket is still there
check for Oil in the tranny also

There is oil in the tranny, the mounts are nismo, brand new. Could it be some with the drive shaft as this only happends when at lower RPMs. If I push the car the vibration and noise go away.

Hard to say without some more info or driving the car LOL
I'd inspect the mounts just to make sure some of the bolts didn't come out or something. Did you recently take the driveshaft off? Wheels and tires are balanced and round?
Can't think of much else that would cause vibration... Hows the engine running, maybe you're misfiring on a cylinder sometimes...

Engine is really strong, you helped me get it going a while back. There is no misfiring. I did change most of the suspension components. Shocks, springs, added tension rod, sway bars F/R, adjustable control arms f/r, and the front control arms set. The bad thing is that I didn't align the car yet. I'm on 17"s. But I don't think it's suspension related because the shift knob vibrates like hell too. Remember all this only happens at low RPMs. I'm going to have to take all this crap apart and take a peak at it, I guess it is hard to tell what's wrong w/o doing some surgery.

Bump!
I'm planing on taking my Driveshaft out this Saturday as the weather will be good for that. Anyone has any Idea of what I should be looking for that might be causing this problem??? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Noppe check your engine mount bolts and carrier mounts... Check you rear diff.... Basically check anything and everything that is connected to your driveshaft....

Ok gear heads. I did a few things to my car today and took pictures of the drive shaft. I think one of the bolts in the front of the shaft is hitting the tranny when the shaft its turning, that why I only hear the sound and get vibration maybe. Anyone has pictures or can take some theirs so that I can compare please? I'm missing a bolt too. Here they are are:

Never mind the ugliness, but the bearing and support are there. It looks kinda bent but that might be because the car is lifted.

Here is another shoot. I know what you thinking about.

I think this is my problem. One Bolt is missing and the other one looks backwards and it;s hitting the transmission housing??

This is my car awaiting to be fixed. So guys please let me know if you see anything wrong in those pictures I posted. I'm thinking of just replacing the whole drive shaft, but If the problem is the bolt hitting the tranny housing the I'll just fix it and replace the center bearing.

Took out the AC compressor, I don't need that, I come from where heat is the daily meal, that should be 20-30lbs out.

Holy Crap those are some HUGE pics
You need to knock off the black Dust cover off the back of the tranny, you cannot use it when using a KA D/S with the SR tranny

So that's it, that my problem? I'm concerned about not having a dust cover. Is there any other type of dustcover I could use? or should that be fine?

Taking the AC out wont gain THAT much weight loss. But it all helps.
The main thing is you will feel it in the throttle response, and thats REALLY nice.
I think im gonna finally put my Efan in soon too.
that way im only spinning a couple things.

You can trim the dust cover if your want it, but its really not needed, you have a seal back there already, the dust cover just prolongs that seal.

So...I'm going to work on the driveshaft this weekend. I want to replace all the bolts. I know some are 14mm but i don't know how long they are. The reason I want to buy them ahead is that they might brake/strip or get f***d-up while I'm at it. I'm not trying to spend money on single piece shaft right now, but might do that later. I will be taking the dust cover off and trim it down. Any help will be appreciated thanks.

So I removed my drive-shaft this past Saturday and here is what was happening.
This is the front part of the shaft and the screws at the front where hitting the dust cover that\'s on the back of tranny.

And this is how the screws looked like. No wonder all the grinding noise and shift knob vibration.

That grinding left some deep marks on those screw heads, don\'t ya think>?

Can't see the pics but just take one of the bolts with you to any hardware shop and get something that's similar in size and get some lock washers then put 'em in.
