The ground wires on s14 KA above stock heat shield that run along the o2 wire...I see they're bolted on the head..but where do they end/start from there?
I'm having issues with my car driving and sometimes going to put in gear where it feels like it wants to die for a sec but doesn't I also hear a metal ping sound from where the ecu is located when it happens. I'm just trying to look over everything to figure out the problem
Only codes I've been getting lately is 34..but it goes and comes for whatever reason without me really changing anything
Also anymore ground wires I need to check?
Thanks

According to the service manual those two ground are for the Knock sensor. If you get the knock codes, try replacing the pigtail with a NEW one from Nissan (I paid $55 for mine after tax with discount). The code hasn't reset. Make sure you check the Hertz signal for proper sensor output.

That was the plan....but can it be shorted past the sub harness...you know the shielded wire it runs to?
It's so frustrating. I don't fell like adding anymore parts on my car till I figure this out...because when I do get code 34 it feels slower..so I figure whats the point of adding on parts for more power.
Anyone know what that ping click sound is when you turn the key on...sounds like it's coming from the pass kick panel or that area near ecu. I hear it when ever I turn the key to on, and when I turn it back I think. Definitely whenever something weird happens like the car cuts off or about to cut off.
Thanks for suggestion

This reminds me. I need to change the pigtail that connect to my o2 sensor. It someone got burnt almost to a crisp before I had it. I need to replace this too but couldn't figure out where it ran too.

The ground lead above the exhaust manifold runs right to the firewall, clips on the brake booster hardline. I always replace it with a larger gauge piece and bolt it to an empty hole on the firewall and behind the head, so it's less visible.
The ECCS relay is the only thing by the ECU that would click on/off. If it's cutting off you're loosing power to the MAF, CMPS, and the ECU as well. That would definitely make the car act weird. Check the relay and plug for damage.

Check into that. As far as I can tell that's the area the noise is coming from. So I shouldn't hear any sound when I turn the key to the on position..I guess except for fuel pump? Like I said any time the car cuts off on me I usually get that sound right before it happens...or if it comes close to cutting off.
For instance my ground cable to my battery was loose at the actual ground on the motor..and i heard the sound off and on..so I know it's electrical.
Relay in question..you say it's by the ec..is it a certain color so I can pinpoint it. I'm a newb when it comes to electrical stuff, so wouldn't be hard for me to look at the wrong thing lol
Thanks for the idea

There's two relay hanging from a bracket, tucked into the little access hole in front of the ECU socket. Both are blue socketed, one is the ECCS relay (red, red/black, black, black/white wires), the other is the ASCD hold relay (green, pink, black, and don't remember). Grab the ECCS relay and inspect it thoroughly, you can also unplug the relay and shake it, listen for noise. It's possible the coil is bad and not making contact, or that water intrusion has rusted a contact and broken it off the coil completely.

Update..don't think it's the problem....car did it's lil sputter act again today on my way back home. Wasn't even headed there, but figure might as well take it in considering how it was acting. I'm so tired of pulling the ecu out, that I've just left out resting on the kickpanel in the floor. So I check for codes about 5 mins after pulling up to the house. Code 55. So I dunno what it oculd be..the times I got knock sensor code..I'm thinking could be a reaction to whatever is really causing the problem.
Only thing I can think of is the spark plug tube gasket being shot, considering I know the valve cover one is. I've pulled plugs and they had oil on the threads, but never looked fouled at the top. Wires however never have anything on em, and I don't see oil around the tubes the plugs go in.

If the plug gasket is leaking you'll clearly see on the plugs and wires. Doubt that's it if they're clean.
Have you checked the engine harness for a shorted coil lead? This is a common issue I found a few years ago on the S14 chassis, where the engine harness wraps around the front of the engine, just past the last injector, the harness rubs on the head. There's a flat point on the head that could be called sharp, the harness will chafe there over time and in some cases, cut through the insulation on a wire. The first one I ever saw was back in 2000, the girl had literally taken it to ever Nissan dealer and mechanic in Atlanta and either got new parts that weren't needed or turned away saying there was no problem. I fiddled with it for three days before I saw the harness arc on the head. The black/white coil lead was cut through, she had symptoms of random cutout as well as tons of blown main fuses. Depending on the position you could have a CMPS signal or MAF circuit grounded there too. Unwrap and inspect it, then ziptie it back to the other portion of the harness going to the CTS and TPS. Since that car I've seen a few more and diagnosed several online as well.
Other than that, start the car and go under the hood, then shake every plug, every portion of harness semi violently. It has to be something random that's loose or just grounding out at varied conditions.

Alright..I'm fooling with the car now..took my intake back off to feel hoses around the throttle body...but don't feel any cracks. Probably get some electrical cleaner and spray my cts connector in case corroded and maybe few other connectors.

Think I see the spot your talking about..near the front of the head theres a rectangular part that the harness coming from the front kinda rests on. The loom did seem cracked...but didn't see wires exposed. I wiggle it and nothing happen. I left the part fasten to the front of the head on there, cause most of the time I break those little plastic "tacks" when I pull em out. I wiggled all wires visible best I could..nothing.
Back to drawing board I guess
