whats up guys, first off, i know there is broken bolt extractor that you can buy out there but i doubt it will fit in the area where a bolt just broke in my car..

s14 owners would know exactly how tight it is to get in this area.. i was installing my crank angle sensor and as i was tightening it, it just broke.. so now, 3/4 of the bolt is still in the hole..(hole is on top of the bellhousing) No part of the bolt is sticking out, so i cant use pliers to extract it.. Does any body have an idea on how to get it off? other than the dreaded dropping of the tranny?

thanx guys

UPDATE:
i went to the mechanic and he said, i would have to drop the tranny to extract the rest of the bolt because there is just no room between the engine and firewall.. and I dont want to drop my tranny with out a lift, coz last time i change my clutch it was a bitch to put my tranny back on.. does anybody have a lift? he is charging me 150 to take care of the whole thing..

i just hate the idea of paying 150 for extracting a bolt.

I'm confused...The CAS is at the front of the VC, where does the bell housing come into the equation. That aside, I have used the "grab it" broken bolt extractor and it works GREAT. I've personally removed 2 broken exhaust manifold studs from an SR head with out a hitch. I will say, I no longer own one b/c it broke shortly after attempting to remove a third one from a buddies car. So they're not indestructible....

its the sensor on top of the bell housing.. maybe the crank position sensor? its not the one infront of the VC..

oh ok, that makes more sense now...

its much easier to reconnect the tranny if you can rotate the engine back some and keep it there. just be careful not to scratch your VC on the firewall...

by rotate you mean, tilting it back a little bit to give it an angle? i did that last time when i was changing clutch.. still beat the crap out of me and a friend of mine.

yeah, that's exactly what I mean. I did it recently during a clutch change; still wasn't easy... I feel your pain:smash:
