Hey guys looking for coils for my s14. After searching for a few days I seem to be getting mixed reviews. But I am looking for a coilover with Camber adjustment in the front and dampening adjustment. But also be more than soft enough to drive around with a date on a friday night and her not have to bitgh about it. I have a budget of about 1k (Maybe 1100 tops) The car is not going to be drifted or tracked at all. Stance's and KTS's are about in my price range and seem to have pretty good reviews. What else is out there? The tanabe S-oc's dont have the adjustment I need. The tien flex's are too expensive for me.

stance, powered by max, those are the two that are used most. there's lots of reviews on both.

All the PBM coil reviews say they are waay to harsh for the streets. Im getting older these days and I do put my kid in the back of the car from time to time. Plus the roads just arent getting any better out here in vegas.

if you're not gonna track it, do you really need coilovers?
so far, from what i've read, a spring shock combo will be much more comfortable on the street and with your budget, a pretty good setup can be assembled.
i would recommend looking into that. maybe talk to dave (drift_freaq) about a setup.
If you're set on coilovers, definately avoid PBM. wayyyy too harsh for the street.
Like everyone else mentioned, Stance has gotten great reviews.
If it's between KTS and Stance, I would definately go with the latter.

If you're looking into comfort, shock/spring combo with camber plates.
Most coilovers even in the softest setting are still stiff.
I'll be running AGX Shocks w/Tein lowering springs on my daily for comfort.
Stiffer than stock, softer than coilovers.
Done and done.

Yea but the car does not go low enough in the fronts on my tokico/tein spring combo. If I were going to stay at that type of a combo I would go with the Tanabe S-OC's which alot of people tell me are awesome for a daily driver.

between the 2 options, Stance seems to have a better reputation.
I'm also contemplating something similar,
as I don't like my current setup & don't want to spend too much either.
I'm undecided between Koni/GC's & KW Var. 3's.
With the OTS koni's & GC coils with Eibach ERS springs,
maybe go 300 lb (6k ?) fronts, 250 lb (5k ?) rears.
I've run a similar setup in my EG civic, albeit with higher rates and really enjoyed it.
If you don't like the rates, you can buy stiffer/softer springs at about $250.
Shocks are valved for a wide range of spring rates iirc.
Setup would cost you around US$7-800 in parts, iirc.
KW Var. 3's are known to run slightly softer than most coils at 7k front/5k rear.
But then again they are around 1600 iirc.
On my S14, I run Tanabe 7's, w/ 10k front (500 lbs ?), 8k rear (400 lbs ?).
Dampening set to full soft.
Tires are 245 & 255 kumho MX.
Alignment is very conservative, although I forget the specifics.
I have contemplated throwing on 5/7 springs, although I'm skeptical if the shocks would work well with that.
On the smooth streets, it does ok although marginally uncomfy for me.
On rough surfaces, it hops more than id like to.
On autoX, it lacks decent grip, & has a tendancy to swing the tail out unpredictably.
Honestly, in my exp, I think 10k front/8k rear rates for a coil is too much for a street /autoX car.
If stance/kts offers those rates, I'm not sure if they'd be the best choice.
8/6 rates would prob work ok for a street car.
personally I'd like to experiment with soft spring rates & thick swaybars next.

Yea right now Im thinking Stance with 7k fronts and 5k rears via swift springs. But I was told they were valved for 9k fronts and 7k rears

if your not going to track it then just go with KYB and a set of springs like swift. it nice comfy and stiff at the same time. then just buy camber plates.

I got KTS coilovers and the ride comfort is actually pretty comfortable compared to my friend's car sitting on powered by max coilovers.

Seriously, there are plenty of reviews about both models of coilovers you listed, as well as others. Just search around and make a decision for yourself.
