so i'm trying to wire up my wipers since i did the ls1 swap. searched around for a while but no specific answer.
i being driving without for a week and it was raining last 3 days. fuck me. not safe at all. :sadwavey:
anyway, i have the stock plug that i cut off from the harness. i think there are 3 (?) wires in it. i assume it would be easiest just straight wire them into the dash harness by the passenger kicker panel.
now question is
what is the color/function of the wires from the motor/ which ones to wire to under the dash?

1. Which year S14?
2. Did the car come with variable intermittent wipers?
3. How much of the stock wiring harness, relays, wiper amp, wiper switch is left?
4. What functionality do you want? lo/hi/intermittent?
5. How much work are you willing to do? plug and play? some modding? custom wiring?

1) 95 s14.
2) not sure what that means. but u can adjust wiper speed.
3) i can get some of the harness i guess or i can make one. not a problem.
4) i just want them to turn ON/OFF. dont care about speed at all.
5) the simpler the better. whatever it takes really

If you left your KA harness uncut you should have left your direct wiring from the F3 plug to the F7 and F9 wiper and amp plugs to the S14. IT should work if you leave that wiring and plugs on the f3 plug and plug it in your chassis harness male f3 plug.
Otherwise you'll have to hardwire the wiper and amp plugs into the chassis harness.
ITs pretty simple... look at a s14 FSM.

not sure what that means. but u can adjust wiper speed.
Besides the main 3 speed adjustments, there are more speed adjustments at the end of the knob.
But yes, if you have the stock KA harness, you can just take out the wiper harness from the main engine harness.
Find the S13 sr to S14 harness guide and you use the wiper wirings.

searched around for a while but no specific answer
I searched the Tech forum with "wiper". I found at least several threads from myself wherein I explained the function of each component.
Some examples:

http://zilvia.net/f/tech-talk/223438-chassis-wiring-help-wipers.html
what is the color/function of the wires from the motor/ which ones to wire to under the dash?
240sx FSM, Full Service Manuals, S13, S14, KA24E, KA24DE: 240SX Forum / 180SX Forum / Silvia Forum: Nissan Forums / Infiniti Forums - NICOclub (http://forums.nicoclub.com/zerothread/311075)
EL section. Wipers subsection. The FSM explains the difference between fixed intermittent wipers and variable intemittent wipers.
If you have any specific questions then feel free to ask.

really??? no way. i mean REALLY?
i have all that. i have a few fsm's. for sr, rb etc. i got camaro fsm for the ls1.
so, thanks.... i guess? i hate reading diagrams because there has been more than instance where the fsm has the wire color wrong plus i thought i might ask to save time. or not.
so your reply is useless to me, more of a waste of bandwidth really. why even bother to reply with what you did? just dont reply.
its cool tho.
someone else already gave me all i need to know on another forum.

I was unable to answer your question with specific answers because your question was vague. I apologise for not being able to help. You asked me for wire colours and I gave you the FSM as the most accurate source for wire colours instead of making stuff up and being wrong.
If you don't trust the FSM or don't know how to read the FSM then that's a different issue. I have found the FSM not to be wrong on the wiper diagram.
There are about 20 different ways to wire up the wipers. I have done all of them, and I have helped about a dozen members with their custom wirings as well. If you want to alienate me then that's your prerogative.
If anyone else would like help with custom wiring wipers, read the first link I posted above and then PM me for additional help if needed.

Once again its all into wiring your KA amp and motor plugs back into your F3 harness, this is the pinout for the KA 95-96 f3

you're welcome

Thank you, opponheimer.
Please note that on pin 42, the purple wire goes to the wiper amp. This wire controls variable intermittent operation on SE models, and may not be there for base models with fixed intermittent operation.
Don't be looking for something that does not exist if you have a base model.

Also, FYI, here's one diagram that a fellow member did to have the bare minimum of low speed wipers with autoreturn. All that's needed are the motor, a standard 4pole relay, and a switch.
Light green can be switched or constant depending upon how you want the key to activate the wipers. I recommend using constant power for the relay for the autoreturn even if you remove the key so you don't come back later and have the wipers move when they're frozen = break.
Light green/red goes to the low speed ground pin on the motor.
Orange shows ground when the wipers are away from base.
The rest is self-explanatory.

I approve this diagram assuming that you use at least 16AWG wire and adequate connections/grounds/etc.

Damn after doing my wiper setup (S13SR in S14) all custom-like, I came in here hoping to set the Texan straight and get some kudos... stupid g6 and his awesome diagrams and explanations.
New question - given that all amps are the same (SE and Non SE) and that I have an SE wiper stalk (with intermittent potentiometer on the end), what needs to be wired up?
This is the wiper stalk plug, showing pin 15 being the 'intermittent' wire...

... I don't think the purple wire going to teh amp was #15, because I know I hooked that up per some guide and intermittent still doesn't work lol

Not to threadjack, but is it possible to put an adjustable intermittent stalk on a non adjustable equipped car?

Haha, like, does it screw in and replace your non-intermittent stalk? Yes.
Do you have the wiring running from the wiper stalk plug to the amp? No.
That's related to what I'm asking - stay tuned for g6's response.

That sucks. Cause my SE DD has the adjustable intermittent wipers, and the base model I just picked up doesn't. I'm gonna make the base model my DD (cause it doesn't have rear end damage like my SE), and it has a wiper problem. He said they come on all the time. You can switch high to low, but they always stay on and eventually burn the fuse. Judging from the links g6civicx posted, I'm gonna say my internal motor switch, amp, or ground wire is bad. I'll let you know if I find anything out and maybe you could give it a shot.
