This is what sucks about chicago, I have a 93 auto 240, body in mint condition, engine has 75k miles, and has been pampered. I either want to do the sr swap or turbo my KA but i want a manual trans. I would rather turbo my KA, what I can do myself. But I need to find a place where I trust to install my trans.. Its hard to find a place around here becasue most of them all have bad raps, or there like "240sx whats that, is that like a new honda" Everyone has hondas around here, not too many 240s, If you go downtown, there are a few and they are FAST... But I like in the subs of Chicago " Lombard" and there is not one shop around here where I can do my tranny swap.. Dose anyone have any Ideaas or comments for me??

you can do the swap yourself you know, dont need a mechanic. just tools and time and FSM
in classified sometimes you'll see people selling all the parts.

I have no idea what it would cost me, if i bought all the parts

parts shouldnt cost more then 300 for sure. probalby closer to 150-200 iirc
labor at a shop would run about $500+
now consider you can buy a new KA for $300-$600.

Look in the freshalloy classifieds also. If you dont have the tools or the knowledge to do it yourself; its not that hard to find a shop (especially in a big city like Chicago) that would do the 5 spd swap. Their not going to do a bad job just because you have a 'new Honda'.

Let me look around at normal Transmision shops, and price them.. I would if I pay them, they can find everything...

Hey, I'm in the Chicagoland area. CJ motorsports I think has done a few swaps, so stop by and talk to the owner, his name is charlie. He's a good guy, I think he recently got a dyno in his shop, not bad for only being in business for a year.

The guy specializes in mr-2's, but I'm sure he would be able to do the trannie swap, he's really knowledgable about imports.
Hope this helps:D

Or try A-Spec Tuning, they specialize in RX7s, but most tell me they are good to deal with, and they said they would be willing to work with 240s but I don't think they ever have.
CJ Motorsports would prolly be your best bet, and they have done MR2 swaps before I think, so they are familiar with swaps other than Honda swaps.
Check out Events and Meet-Ups section a couple meets have been planned, tell Art(MI SO FST) your e-mail too so he can add you to the list (talking to the both of you).

My cousin is good friends w/ charlie from CJ motorsports. I've done business w/ him a few times, hes good and reliable. I think he has a few other teks there too, to help him w/ hondas and nissans.

I might have a manual tranny you can buy locally for pretty cheap. There are a couple other things (clutch line, pedal m/c) which I don't have.

I was actully thinking about selling my 240 the past few days.. I was looking into an Mr2. Not the new ones, but something that is already turboed and stick. this might be a better way. Its just such a pain in the ass when you dont make much money and ****.. I wonder what the insurence is like on them..

Once again CJ motorsports can help you if your looking for an mr2, they specialize in them, so if you find one, I'm positive they could give you more than enough help w/ any mr2 issue.
