ok here the deal, yestderday i put in a alpine indash, and everything is working. Then at night when i turned on my lights the back lights on the cluster didnt turn on. All the other lights on the cluster work, such as turn signals, low fuel light, and all the other light on the cluster.
I checked all fuses, all the wiring on the indash, and even took out the cluster checked all the bulbs and still nothing!!!
Any other possible thing that i missed??
thanks for all the help.

TCU. its the white box by the driver fuse box. inside the car.. sometimes when you install a stereo it shorts out the TCU. Open the box and check for burn spots where it shorted out. if it looks ok inside then its something else.

Are the parking lights all working? If so, check the dimmer switch, it may have burned out. If not, you blew a fuse.

I just checked that. All my parking lights turn on, and i dubbled checked all the fuses. When i turn on the car the light to the clock on the cluster turns on, but once i turn on my head lights the clock light turn back off.

The light behind the clock is powered by the accessory circuit, not the parking lights. It dims with the dimmer though, so I'd say for sure the dimmer is bad.

Thanks for all the help everone. I dont wanna sound like such a newbie but what do i do with the dimmer?? Do i just take out the switch and get a new one, or do something with the wiring??

Temporarily ground the red/yellow wire. If the lights work, the dimmer is bad.
damn, im having the same problem except i didnt touch my radio.
when i turn the key to on, the light for the clock turns on but then i turn on the headlights and it turns off and the cluster lights turn off as well. i checked that white box and it looks ok...went to the j/y and got a dimmer switch and same thing :(

Did you ensure you used a GOOD ground?
When you grounded the red/yellow, did you make sure that you put your light switch on the 1st/2nd position?
