Hello all, I went to install my valve cover and the idiot that had the motor before me def stripped alot of the bolts =/
Can i just retap them the same size or do i have to go a size higher?? or do i have to helicoil them?
I honestly rather retap them, can anyone give me a like to the bolts ill have to use and what size to tap them?
Thank you for the help

Aluminum is pretty soft
I'd helicoil them but that'll be a few $

I'd helicoil them but that'll be a few $Depending on how bad it is you might be able to clean it up with a chaser tap.
If not then helicoil insert. It's not that expensive especially compared to taking the head to a machine shop and getting it re-threaded.

McMaster-Carr had shoulder type bolts in various sizes, I think I found some close if not perfect when I was looking for cap head replacements.
