i've been doing research on this engine alittle bit since im buying this today
FS: 1989 Nissan 240sx xe coupe w/sr20de - 240Atlanta.com (http://www.240atlanta.com/forums/showthread.php?t=31708)
i know it makes around 160HP or so, but thats about it, oh and it comes from the s14 silvia q's.....
i want to know more specs about this engine and stuff, like whats the difference between this and a sr20deT other than the turbo.
I wanna know if this motor is stronger than a KA or no... how much can i get from it keeping it N/A?
thanks for the help you guys...
God Bless

Main differences between the DE and the DET are the Distributor vs COP/CAS ignition system and the Compression ratio.
DET is 8.5:1 CR
DE is 10:1 CR
DET has a 0.759 5th gear, DE has a 0.838
There are some other internals difference between the DET and DE.Main thing is with the CR the DE not going to take as much boost as a DET would.
What do you mean by stronger?
NA to NA. The SR has little more HP then the KA but the KA has 20 more ft/lbs of torque. The SR goes upto 7900rpm and the KA only 5600rpm. The KA is a 89mm X 96mm Bore X Stroke. The SR is a 86mm X 86mm. KA is a Stroker where the SR is Square. The KA will make more power down low and have trouble breathing up top.
KA is a great motor cause of it's tq. But, the NA SR will make more HP and show more gains with I/H/E and Cams. How much depends on what you do.
Note: RWD SR's are different then FWD. You have a S14SR that has NVCS on the intake cam. Take note when buying cams.

ok basicly your gettin the na sr20de which has a compression of 9:1 if i'm not mistaken which i'm almost positive in and with that all you would need to do is bolt on a turbo and your good with a headgasket change but yes to answer your question the sr no matter whether if it's boosted or not has alot stronger internals than the Ka this should help you understand the ins and outs of that motor and the silvia period http://www.200sx.org/ most helpful on history of the car and performance on the car in stock fourm

my friend got this engine and he mad 124.9 whp on the dyno definately not worth it. Go with the s14 sr20det that engine has good response compared to the s13 sr20det and it has a bit more torque on the lower rpm range but dont ever go sr20de.
