ok a few weeks back i saw an s14 with an sr20 in a shop. i saw something interesting about the fan setup. he was running a clutch fan, and a single electric fan. i thought about trying this setup out cause in the summer you know it can get hot and no one wants to overheat! i have a ka-t running a clutch fan. the one reason i wanted to try this double fan setup is because the stock fan shroud won't really fit in my engine bay and its ok right now cause its cool but when the weather gets hot i don't know how it will work out. so i was thinking just a single 10in fan maybe? anyone on here running this type of setup at all? i was concerned about the car reaching normal operating temp at idle and such, just wanted some opinions on it, being there are quite a few ka and sr guys on here!

I'm confused about what you're asking about. Just sounds like you're talking about the stock fan setup. All 240SX came with clutch fan and an electric A/C fan.

Bingo. OE setup uses both an electric and a clutch type fan. Nothing new here.

the setup i'm talking about is an aftermarket electric radiator cooling fan and a stock clutch cooling fan. its like he had a flexite fan and the clucth fan doing the same job. to tell you the truth i don't think my car has the ac fan.:wtf:

Ok then put an eletric fan on yours and leave the clutch fan. Whats so hard about that?

well like i said, i just wanna know if anyone else has done it? never said it was hard. but if you run 2 fans to perform the same function will it be overkill? cause lets say its cooler weather then thing might be too cool, so to speak. i would've asked the owner of the sr but i didn't see him.

All cars have both fans stock. Whether or not the one you saw had an aftermarket electric fan or an OEM one, what would be the difference? They're doing the same thing unless it's wired to run all the time, which would draw more amperage than required and possibly over cool the engine in colder weather.
So to answer your question, yes, people do it. When they buy the car new and until they remove one or the other. Because like it's already been said, the car is set up like that from the factory.

if its overkill then dont use it. its not that hard. and if you want both then put the e-fan on a switch

well I guess i'm the only person rocking one fan huh? just looked at the fsm and see there is supposed to be an electric fan and a clutch fan. I feel like a real noob, lol.. and I had this car for 3 1/2 years. quick question, what size is the oem electric fan, the fsm doesn't say. I was looking at getting one made by hayden it had a 12 inch and a 14 inch.

i don't want dual fans, i like the clutch fan, it cools better to me.. people om here were telling me the s14 has two fans which it does, but the electric fan only comes on when you turn your ac on. and the setup i was referring to both fans will run at the same time at idle. which explains my ac not working cause i have no ac fan. i think i'm just gonna get a stock or an aftermarket that direct bolt on ac fan. anyone knows of any aftermarket oem fans? i was thinking of trying napaonline or summit racing?

The OE electric fan comes on with the A/C, but also when the temp rises. Low speed at 203 degrees, high speed at 212. The A/C not working has nothing to do with the fan missing, it's not part of a series circuit.
Any decent 12-14" fan will work fine, just connect it to the high speed side of the OE circuit.

I have two 14" electric fans. 1 pulling through the rad and 1 pulling through the intercooler and to the rad. I'm thinking of replacing the one on the rad with a dual flexalite or altima set up and putting the intercooler fan on a switch. Car runs good under normal conditions but when drifting it gets a little hot 217F. Plus I need an oil cooler. KA-T BTW.
