i recently installed a used welded diff and now for some reason everytime i turn the wheel slightly while im rolling, it sounds as if something is cracking. when im rolling in a straight line there is no noise. i was wondering if the weld is bad, i.e welds have cracked and is flying around inside my pumpkin. some people tell me it could be my bushings but i beg to differ seeing as my friend has a beat up 240 with the exact same setup, just softer coilovers and it does not make the same noise (he got his weld done by professional). any insight on this would be great. thanks in advance.
edit: or could it be just my suspension being too stiff along with my welded diff causing chassis flex? like my chassis wanting to twist lol

i started hearing a similar noise after i installed my subframe bushings...
i have a welded diff + coilovers as well.
did you install subframe bushings or anything else to stiffen up your suspension?

When you turn, both wheels will obviously go the same speed, so one tire will scrub. You could just b hearing that. happens with all welded dif's.

Have you checked your subframe bushings? They could be pretty haggard and the stiff suspension/welded diff is causing them to torque around a lot more. Replace them or install collars if they look gross.

It sounds like your subframe's getting busy with your frame. If the welds broke, you'd know it.
Somewhat Unrelated: Since I've installed my welded, when I'm turning hard at slow speed, like to park, I can feel all kinds of crazyness through my shifter. I assumed it's due to the whole subframe/diff working against the grip of the wheels, but man, it's pretty scary sometimes.

whats that feeling exactly? Does it get shakey like it does when your in 2nd and you've slowed down too much and it's about to stall?
