Good god... Finally! Maybe Scott Speed will be recalled from his Nascar exile. But I hope they aren't of Force India quality. I also hope they bring races back to the states...

Thanks for posting, i was gonna post this but didnt. Im actually excited for this, hopefully it will promote more fans to watch F1, its really great and exciting. Going to be tough to compete with nascar since those guys might not be too open minded about watching a f1 race, but theres soo much going on in f1. Tons of background stuff, car development, team/sponsers etc.

I'm still hoping to see who they get as drivers.. man imma say its going to be a tough 2010 season for them, no prior car to build off, i wonder if their car is gonna be all new from the ground up. Will be interesting.. from what i recall, they wont even be able to use a full size car for wind tunnel testing anyways since the new rules limited that.

I cant express how excited I am for this, I hate the team location though, think it should be more near the coast imo, gain more publicity for the team/support i think instead of bein isolated in nascar country.

I wouldnt mind seein Scott Speed have another shot at F1, his f1 career wasnt too great/short, but he was on a underdog team and neither drivers at the time put out any good results, and they had fired him. He's already got some experience.

I wouldnt mind seeing Danica Patrick either.. im not sure how well she would do, but theres always testing.

Unrelated, but id love to see more minorities in F1, esp for an American team, i just know they are going to be aiming for the typical American Caucasian pretty boy.

As Bob Varsha said in the interview not all rules apply for them during the 2009 season, so they have less restriction for their development (within reason).

I think their choice in NC is because of the facilities available to them, Anderson's connections with wind tunnel there, and Windsor's connections at Speed which is also there. It will probably be easeir to fly to their facilities in Europe as well.

I think they're pretty open minded about selecting a driver like they said, regardless of age, race, or sex.

you got a point.. There is probably tons of great nascar engineers/mechanics and school programs out there that could easily adapt into f1.

I was gonna say engine builders too, but they are going to get supplied /outsourced engines.

Found this on an F1 board thought it was pretty intersting

The site usf1.com automatically makes you go to usgpe.com.

Using the two letters F1 is not allowed by FOM so the new American team had to think of a new name...which thus apperantly has become USGPE, probably standing for U.S. Grand Prix Engineering.

You're not allowed to use 'F1' unless it's used in combination with the words 'racing' (Honda Racing F1) or 'team' (Renault F1 Team)

FOM is very strict with this kind of things, Force India had to change its logo this year. The 'I' in the 2008 logo resembled too much to a '1' making it look like 'F1'. In the current logo the 'I' looks like an 'i' making it Fi.

So I guess its USGPE now. lol.
