Seriously though, i used to hate nascar, but over the past couple years I've started to like it. Kinda makes me sad though because i missed out on a lot of good racing because of my snobbery.

I think it's just because i was upset that i never got to watch F1 or v8 supercars or FIA GT racing on tv.

People might not like NASCAR but you need to respect 180 mph into a turn. At some tracks they actually drift going in from hard braking. Its not super angel so its not noticable but next time your watching NASCAR check out the corner entrance.

Im not a huge fan of NASCAR either... But you gotta respect those cars and builders. For a big fat ass V8 to but pushed that hard for that long without failing is pretty amazing.

Id still rather watch any form of road racing over NASCAR.

^add all those G's on the 4 banking corners to the 500 miles

and add slipstream racing into factor if the track is big enough like...i think talladega is a big one.
i dont remember much on nascar. i've gained more respect after gaining knowlege on motorsports in general.

How is a v8 living at high rpm different from any other motor configuration?

The only answer I could come up with to this is natural increase in the number of internal parts, moving and non moving at that. When there is more stuff to fail at that velocity for that amount of time, the fact that more engines DON'T grenade is amazing.
