So my s13 got pulled yesterday for my Blitz Nur spec exhaust in Pasadena. Would they check under my hood for the corrections? (sr20det btw) I was going to trade for a z32 TT, but what would happen if I traded before my court date and I no longer have the car? Any advice guys?

You got lucky and the cop that gave you a ticket didn't pop your hood the first time, maybe you get lucky again when you get your ticket signed off.

Just pay the fine.. Don't even bother checkin out the REF for a exhaust ticket. I had an exhaust ticket before, i think they still look at the motor if i recall.

did you get a ref ticket? or a exhaust fix it ticket?

You dont need to sell your car, that does not work.
Wait for the notice that will be sent to you in the mail., it will have a bail amount, you just pay that bail. Go to court, plead guilty, Judge will give you the option to pay the amount and if you can pay all of it now, tell him you cant, and they will give you an easy payment option. Done

And put a stock exhaust or something thats not stupid loud, esp in cali it aint worth it.. You dont need a stupid loud exhaust for high performance.

Just go with what I said then. If you trade cars before court, you'll have to pay the fine, uncorrected or corrected I don't know.

Bored_Rice
02-28-2009, 12:23 AM
If I trade say "sorry your honor, but no longer have possession of this vehicle" compared to going to a police dept for the correction on the fix it and risk them finding more illegal stuff.

cc4usmc
02-28-2009, 12:36 AM
Well if you want the z32, then sure. You'll have to show proof that you no longer own the vehicle. When I went to the police department to get my ticket signed off, the security guard was the one who signed it off and he didn't even bother to look anywhere else. But if you don't mind trading, then trade.

Ive heard of people who got lucky with that, i dont mean to pull the race card, but they where Caucasian, and Ive seen other people do it, and not so lucky, they have to pay the fine, the judge said "it happened during your time of ownership and you didnt correct it".

Not to sure about rules and what not, but aren't intakes legal?

As longas the intake tube isn't modified, it should be legal, right?

yea same thing happened to me couple days ago...i had to go to state ref for my air filter which was connected to the stock MAF and tubing and exhaust ticket. now they're saying i have to weld on the silencer to my exhaust since they passed this law a month ago.

i came to take the decibel test with my silencer and registered with a 93.5. the guy didnt pass me since i had to weld on the silencer.

That's not what the other guy was talking about. When you take your ticket to the courthouse, that's where they charged you $8, but now it's $25. I've gotten tickets for just my exhaust and wasn't required to go to the ref, so it most likely depends where you live.

When I went to the ref to get my car inspected for having headers on my ka, it was like $8.25, but they only charge you when you pass. It used to be like $40. The cost of a fix it ticket at the courthouse used to be $8, but now it's $25. If you said yours was free, how do you know what you're talking about?

You just tried to argue with me that the ref charged $8, but now it's free again. And yes, the court fees were $8..and now they are $25.There's no point in you even arguing because you don't know what you're talking about.

Edit: The court fees were $10 before, not $8. I made a mistake, that's beside the point. Either way, it has gone up to $25.

Man looking back at this ticket... it could have been so much worse. With all the stuff I could have been caught with, I only got slapped with a 2751a modified exhaust infraction. How much do you think this is?

cc4usmc
02-28-2009, 02:09 AM
I've already said that. It's $25 if you correct it, if you don't I think it was around $120. Have a police officer sign it off, and before the date on the ticket, take it to the courthouse and pay the fine. If you don't I think it was around $120. But yes, you did get lucky.

I was on my way to PCC on Los Robles. Sucks extra hard because That made me late for class which got me marked absent. So i could have just slept in without getting a ticket and the outcome would have been a lot better. I saw a s14 and a sti just squeak by with the "damn i feel your pain" face while i was getting written up.

Ok let me rephrase this... If you were in my position, would you A: just pay the bail or B:Risk the chance of the sr getting caught and go get the ticket signed.

i got a fix it ticket on 1/30/09 for modified exhaust. So its $25 if i get it corrected which means swap out the muffler and get something stock, take it to the inspection pay $10 to get it sign off and the $25 at the court total $35.....but im thinking it puts me at risk for them to find out what i got under the hood and what not so.... i called the court and found out that i have 2 options like CC4USMC said pay $25 to get it corrected or just pay the fine which in my case my bail out fine is $250 and i dont have to correct it. Mostly likely ill pay the fine instead of taking chances. What are my chances of them telling me to pop my hood or them getting me for other modified stuff??? Has anyone taken their car for inspection and came out of there with additional citations????

If you're going to pay the fine, I don't think there will be an inspection... in fact I'm almost guaranteed. You just go to the courthouse, pay them and walk out.

Why did you pay it off?

All you had to do was put stock exhaust on, find a cop and have him sign it off.

Why would he pop your hood if all you got was an exhaust ticket?

I know well of California and the ticket laws and what not.

9/10 times the cop won't even care that much and will glance at your car if at all and sign it off.

As long as your ticket doesn't have anything written on it for modified emissions, they don't have any reason to suspect under hood mods.
