View Full Version : Taka lines - crush washers?

Briefly, I'm putting an S15 T28 on my S13 SR. I'm using Taka oil/water lines (thanks Harp).

On the fittings that used to be banjo fittings - on the block, especially - should I be using a crush washer? The washers from the banjo fittings seem a bit too large, and since the kit didn't come with washers I kind of think they're not needed, but I have nightmares about getting everything bolted together and then having the fittings leak...

Any help appreciated.

If you're using an AN type fitting (flare) which I'm dead sure the Taka lines are there is no need for a crush washer. Period.

im pretty positive you need one on the block side still. the fitting->turbo line side has the flare.

you can also use teflon tape for the water lines, dont use it on the oil lines.

feel free to correct me if im wrong

Just remember the factory used straight threads. DO NOT use flared threads on straight threads... If there used to be crush washers then there is a straight thread, no question about it.

Well, it's Taka's kit, so I doubt very much he sent me the wrong fittings...

The exhaust side is bolted together, all I need now is a fitting to mate the water drain with the S14 water neck I got. I did not use crush washers on either the fittings to the block or the turbo, so hopefully nothing will leak.

If anyone has advice on what to use to plug the nipple where the stock water return used to connect to the heater hose on the passenger side, I'd appreciate it. I'm thinking about just using a big vacuum nipple plug with a hose clamp but if there's something better let me know.
