View Full Version : Question on paint quality
Ok I got a paint job awhile back, then today i was pullin into my driveway tryin to inch up to the car in front of me so i could get out of the road when crack i hit it not hard but it messes up my paint on my bumper. It looked like a hard boiled egg's shell that u pushed on and cracked. so i rubbed it gently with my hand(dont know why guess i was tryin to magically make it go away) and the paint in the small area(about 3x3in) all flaked off i think i could see some of my old color teal (not sure it was dark) so i was wondering is this normal? or did i get a horrible paint job? also after i first got it back around the windows was peelin, but he fixed it(still looks like ass) thanks alot sorry im kinda ****ed i hit a ****in parked car.

did you paint this car over 2 years ago?
was a 2-400.00 Macco paint job?
did they sand down and primer before they shot the paint on?..
most likey like you a crappy paint job and you just need to get it touched up...
or you can save up.. sand/primer yourself and then take it back to those cheap places and get it painted.
no i payed 1200 at a spot called on the spot

well if toy paid 1200.00
you should have a warrantee? 1-2 years?
also you should check to see if they did any prep work before they painted.

yeah, it certainly sounds as if there was some poor prep work, especially sanding and/or through wax/clearcoat removal prior to the new coat of paint.

If you can still see your old color, you unfortunately got a bad paint job. prepping for a new coat of paint includes getting rid of all of the old paint.... go yell at them, that is if they told you they were going to fully prep it....

better check that warrantie, probley doesnt cover chipping. Most paint warrenties cover, discolorration, fading and other related areas. And if you can see your old color under your new color, you got a bad paint job, the prep work was skimped on :(

Yeah, you got ripped off. I'd definately go bitch at them. I don't care who you go to, 1200 dollars should include removal of old paint and priming.

If you got the paint job done less than a month before you hit the other car, it probably wasn't fully cured. Before the paint is cured, extreme care needs to taken when touching it. The shop that painted my car told me to stay away from parking lots, car wax, and car washes for four weeks to alow the paint to fully harden.

The point is, it wasn't even primed.

painting malpractice haha
that place is bad..u need to sand down your whole car and primer the sucker then paint..all they did was paint over the original paint..reason y i wont stick. and reason y ud see the old paint underneath..i say bomb the place.
