I was thinking about getting bigger cams maybe like a 264 lift nothing crazy, i was jsut wondering if i should get my car tuned if do upgrade??
Ive searched and some people said yes and some said it would be a waste of money to retune the ecu
Also, what cams are you guys running?? Let me know if you liked a specific cam thats a stage 1 or 2
Yes. I had a very big change in where I was on the maps going from stock to HKS Step 1 264's.

If you want to take advantage of the cams, you should retune.

dido w. what was said above... as with any modification to your engine, a re-tune will bring out its true potential... 264's is a great choice and you will deffinately notice them

i think a retune and cam gears will help you get everything out of the cams you choose... but you don't really NEED it unless they are insane cams but yet it is best and you make more of the cams with a retune and cam gears... if you go with Brian crower cams ive read you can never get them perfectly on time without adjustable cam gears... i don't know about other companies... there was a thread on this recently it should appear in the first if you search i think

I dont want to go cheap, i was thinking about greddy or HKS tho, and only like a 264 lift nothing major...
The reson why i posted this is because i have money for cams but not to retune it, i live in Michigan and there isnt really any good shops for me to get it tuned at..

I'd personally stick with HKS, Tomie, TODA or GReddy cams. They've put alot of R&D into their products. Then again i've seen other cams do just as well. In my current setup i have HKS Step 2 cams installed 256in and 264ex but with a higher lift. This requires you to install the Step 2 Valve springs etc...
I assume that your wanting to install HKS Step 1's? which doesn't require valve spring upgrade. However, i would not recommend driving around without a retune, last thing you want is something going bang/boom. Do it right the first time and just be patient.
Steve.
