Just want some inputs/experiences or knowledge about this. Ive read all the "how to's" and im really leaning to turboing my N/A. And im also going to use the sandwich plate for my oil lines BUT ive also read that SR's are better off with oil cooler.

So if i drill my block for the oil lines to the turbo and get a sandwich plate for the oil cooler. Would i loose oil pressure?....Or is there some type of upgraded oil pump for these kinda of upgrade.

Or am i going to be fine just with the sandwich plate to the turbo with no oil cooler.

no offense, but it seems to me you need to spend more time on research what you need to do first.

You can get oil supply from sandwich plate but let me remind you if you tab it from the sandwich plate, the oil are "unfiltered" before it enters the turbo. Beside getting oil supply from this method, u can add a Tee fitting onto the factory existing oil pressure sender unit, and the thread pitch is most likely to be 1/8" BSPT.

Anytime you add addition oil path or flowing thru extra device, there will be a set amount of oil pressure drop. About having oil cooler or not, that's a good investment to have but make sure you have a thermostat to control the oil temp, so u won't over cool your oil.

Go back to your basic first, find out what's your goal in power, your budget, and read more.

well thats the thing, i already have everything i need besides the oil cooler and sandwich because my first plan was to pull the motor out and drill factor oil line on the block because i was planning on swapping out the head gasket as well. If i can work with the sandwich plate i might just do that. But i dont see no pro's and con's on doing that.

Im in the process of doing mine. Stock manifold, t25, FMIC, SR 370cc injectors, Walbro FP. For oil Im just running a T fitting off the oil pressure sensor(same thing I did on my KA-T). And for water I am running lines from the TB just like McCoy did on his.

google McCoy SR20DE and you should find his build thread.

You only need to drill/tap for your oil return. Do as everyone else mentioned, just 'T' off your oil pressure sensor for your oil feed. If you do run water lines, just use the ones that run to your throttle body.

As for an oil cooler, I wouldn't even worry about it unless your doing alot of track days or you see a need... as in install an oil temp gauge and monitor temps for a while before throwing more money at the car.

Not sure why it would be discouraged. This is the prefered method when turboing a FWD SR20DE, been done since as long as I've been playing with SR motors, over 9 years, and have done it several times myself without issue.

with the price of sr swaps these days, i have no idea why you would do this.

Question to the OP, are you going to use the distributor, or go to coilpacks?
