Moving back stateside in a few months for a job in the Norfolk area. Going to pull my S14 out of storage and plan on bringing with me to register locally.

However am thinking I may run into some issues. Seems like emissions won't be an issue since I just need to pass the safety inspection. However, I have no ebrake (z32 rears), dont even have an ebrake handle in the car and the center console has been glassed and redone to close up the hole (so it looks stock). No rear seatbelts, no spare tire or jack in car (thats an easy fix though). No airbags, totally removed including all wiring and control module (airbag light pulled from cluster).

I really don't feel like going through the hassle of adding all this shit back into the car for a basic safety inspect. Is there any chance I can pass down in that area or am I looking at an uphill battle? I'm going to pick up a 2nd car anyway (looking for used cts-v), but wondering whether its worth saving myself the trouble and selling the S14 and just picking up an S2000, mazdaspeed MX-5, 350z or something along those lines that I can still have fun with. Any tips from locals on the matter would be appreciated.

Charlie,
Do you not have the option of maintaining your registration in Alabama, or perhaps NJ where you were before?
This is on the off chance that that shit WON'T fly in VA.

Always kept the car registered in florida when i worked in NJ for that reason. Would like to consolidate all to one spot though, only having one insurance policy would be nice since i'll have multiple cars now. That and I hear the VA cops are tough on traffic laws, probably won't let the registration thing slide if they see the car around often.

Well it really depends where you take the car. The airbags will be fine since there is no airbag light. About the E-brake will depend. I know where i took my car, they woudnt check it, but i live in central VA

By the way, anyone have recommendations on areas to look at for housing? I'm looking for a 2+ bedroom house or townhouse, with at least a one car garage. In a non-shitty area (i.e. my wife can walk around and shit during the day without having worry about folks asking for change). Office is in Norfolk close to the Waterside center so I'm fine with anything in a roughly 45 min. commute range.
