Hi,

Since SF4 came out I might as well get back into the gaming system. I used to have a 360 but I like the exclusives on the PS3 more. I want to pick up a 40 gb from craigslist, is there anything I should look at when checking out the system? I think the 40gb doesnt have wifi either right? Is there anyway to add one?

not sure about the specs but i remember back when PS3s first came out, people were robbing other people by flashing the PS3 or the box and take the cash leaving the buyer empty handed. or even just flat out get robbed by force/gun point. make sure u meet some where really public or roll with a bunch of people.

yeah possibly, ive read people always suggesting those, but never head of anyone actually using one.

The new PS3 are suppose to be better, consume less energy, but no ps2 compatibility at all on higher models...

than there is a expected $100 price drop soon.. but man i bearly play my ps3 right now lol

Just buy a new PS3, old ones weren't as reliable but they did play your old PS2 games which was good. However like HyperTek said the new ones consume less energy have a newer cpu (more efficient) bleh bleh.... I have shit loads of PS2 games, but never really use it; actually i never used it once since I bought my PS3, just addicted to the damn thing especially NHL09.

I wish they kept the 4 USB ports and the memory stick readers but then again it's a cost issue for Sony etc... However, you can buy a special adapter from one of those 'Game Trader' stores which allows you to plug in one the USB ports and gives you 3 more USB ports and an SD card reader slot. Only paid like $15 cdn for it.

I have the 80GB CECHL01, apparently this one has the updated cpu; this goes same for the 160GB CECHP01 version. I forgot the specs 65nm or something i could be wrong, just search it up. Honestly you won't notice any differences in gameplay. I say get the latest 80GB version and then upgrade HDD later on.

i say get the older one, they might become collectors because of the ps2 compatibility. The 60gb has ps2 hardware in it, the 80gb is software emulated.. The 60 has the best compatibility because of the hardware.

I know some people dont care for ps2, but i dont have a analog tv in my room, just my lcd monitor on my computer and i play my ps3 thru it, wish i could finish up some of my ps2 rpg games.

But dont be picky imo.. as long as you dont get a 20gb without the wifi, i think the wifi feature is worth it.

hmm ur from riverside too...

i thought about throwing it on ebay as a bundle with mgs4, gtavi, uncharted and assasins creed, 250gb hard drive, linux installed and put it for some expensive price since i could say its "modded" with the hd and linux lol

Why buy off craigslist? Just wait until the price drop and you'll probably end up paying the same and it'll be a new system w/ warranty. May be happening as soon as April.

Analyst: $100 PS3 price drop coming by June 'at the latest' - Network World (http://www.networkworld.com/news/2009/022609-analyst-100-ps3-price-drop.html)

If you already have a PS2 is backwards compatibility that important?
