I searched and this is the closest thing i found
http://zilvia.net/f/chat/207490-my-s13-welded-differential-review.html
Its generally in my question area but here it is.
i have a 1992 nissan 240sx with an 89 KA in it. some of you may know that it is going to be a drift project. strict track car. so i would like to know drive line wise what to look for that will take the harsh beating that drift does to these cars.. LSD ? tranny ? clutch ?? the 3 things on my mind. obviously 6 puch design clutch ... now.. will the stock 5 speed tranny hold up ?? i plan on making upwards of 440HP + and should i WELD my rear diff ?? or save up for another. I know it can be alot cheaper by welding it but quality ?? and i foind a J30 sitting at the junkyard and i herd there diffs are LSD and fit into the S13 pumpkin ??
Advice is grealy appriciated.

That's a BIG amount of power.
You MIGHT break missions fast, but maybe not. I think it depends on how hard you shift it as well as what clutch you use.
I can't imagine somebody going through the trouble to make that much power, but go cheap and WELD a differential.
Also, are you planning to go pro? 400+ is a LOT of power. You could do just fine with half that.
A nice single plate clutch would probably do you well. twin plate is probably going to be tough on the mission.

my understanding is that a twin plate is better for the tranny because it allows the first plate to engage, take off a large percentage of the 'shock' and the second plate slips against the first plate transferring the power more smoothly from the transmission.... Maybe i'm wrong i dunno? anyone else?

Well its all going on a SOHC KA. if you havent seen the build this is it..
http://zilvia.net/f/chat/232311-ka24e-performance-build-drift-pic.html
ive been ordering engine internal parts and now i belive its time to do somthing about the drive line. and i dont know what (missions) means.unless your refering to transmission. id like a rough clutch that will get those tires spinning soon as i let that clutch up. It might seem alittle far fetched but i honestly do wanna go pro. I dont have much drifting under my belt but i sure do hope to someday burn rubber with all the big guys out there. and welding the stock diff deffinatly was somthing i was considering. i just want good functionality and strengh. if 440 + is soo much.. then maybe bring is down to 320.
thanks for the time guys i appriciate it

anywho... have fun.

What are your thoughts on my build so far ??

I looked at the photos on the first page of that engine thread.
to be honest (and it aint nice) I have 0 interest in knowing anything about a single cam KA. I think it looks terrible. I wouldn't expect it to make mor ethan 150 horsepower. I would never want one.... etc.
If YOU like it and YOU are going to make it amazing, good. Go for it.

Thats cool. thanks. the reason being of this project is cuz i see too many SR20's CA's ETC. and the SOHC KA's are such torque monsters. ive seen somone make 300 HP N-A!!! and some make around 600 on the stock crank. there truely capable motors. just most ppl dont belive in em.

Lol it's a race motor which means it's lifespan is measured in hours, not miles.

SCCA GT3 car yes. But if it's your "friends" car then I call BS.

^ yes that is what i ment that SCCA car. pretty crazy to me so i think the SOHC KA is just as capable as any other engine swapped into the S13.
except the RB26
