Bad day!!! My car impounded

ABOUT 5 MINUTES AGO... parking inforcement towed my car away (1990 hb). the car isnt under my name yet, has no smog, and hasnt been rigistered since 2002. was going to buy coilovers but now i have to spent it on getting my car out, "special smog", and registering it in my name. bye bye all my $$$.

My car just got here from Japan yesterday, and is out on my street with no plate/insurance or anything because the papers have yet to get to me, but either way this thread made me a *bit* more paranoid.

i crunched the numbers. $200 for towing and getting out of the yard. ~$200 smog. $50 temp. registration, ~$75 putting car into my name. $$$have no idea on insurance $$$. and then TAXES. im sure arnold will get a nice bonus from me.

Its only gonna cost you more.

Temp registration is free UNLESS you've already got the car under your name.

Don't sweat the initial cost of getting it out, taking longer to get it out is really expensive in the long run.

well on 12/31/08 i bought the car. its one of those that that guy bought it from a guy who bought it from another guy type thing. anyway i went to AAA to get it put it in my name. i needed information that the guy i bought it from didnt give me. so it has a lost title and pink. i have to get those on top of other things.

so basically i had it coming.

i dont have to pay the back tags those were taken care of by the seller.

they told me i had to have proof of insurance and registration in order to get it out. so it will be a couple extra days before i get it back.
