Yes like my other threads this can probably be classified as a noob post, but I'm gonna put it up anyways. :D

Basically I was wondering if there would be any benifit of putting BOVs on a n/a KA? I know one main reason for putting BOVs on a turbo engine is to increase the longevity of the turbo, but what affects (postive or negative) would they have on a N/A engine?

It's won't do any good at all, as a matter of fact it won't even work at all. The blow off valve needs positive pressure in the intake tract, hence the "blow-off" part. You will probably never or very, very rarely see that in a N/A car, and even then it would do no good. It is designed for a F/I engine, namely turbocharged, so when the throttle plate closes all that air has somewhere to go other than back to the compressor stopping it or possibly even shocking it enough to cause cracks and all kinds of other things that will damage and inevitably destroy your turbo. Hope that helps. All that typing cause you couldn't do some research.

Thanks for your reply s14slide. I can appriciate why you commented about me needing to simply research the subject. But I'm honestly so foriegn the subject of BOVs that I wouldn't know where to begin. But your post definitly cleared some things up.

Dude...I hope you're joking coz a blow off valve on a NA engine is just pointless. You will most likely be made fun of for that.
If you really want to go ahead with your idea, I suggest looking on ebay for one of those Electronic "Whoosh" sounding blow off valves.

I think one of those electronic blow off valves would be more up his alley! www.turbona.com I think it is. anyway, we should give him an easier time, its hard to be a newbie.
