View Full Version : Question for 200sx guys!
I'm currently debating the purchase of either a 70's pickup or a 200sx se-r. If I get the 200 I really want to do the gti-r swap. I was looking on heavythrottle.com and one of their engines comes with the awd tranny and rear drive parts. Would convting the 200sx from fwd to awd be very difficult using the gti-r parts? Also, they're selling a complete motor with ecu, maf, intercooler, pipes, and everything for $3000. Is there anything that I'm missing? Could the swap be done properly by backyard mechanic such as myself. My last question is, where can I find more information on the gti-r motor? Thanks <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>

Your better off getting that engine with a front wheel drive transmission. AWD would require a driveshaft to the rear and there is no "hump" going down the middle of the car to connect the driveshaft to the rear wheels. It would cost you ALOT of money to convert to rear wheel drive. Try the forums on www.freshalloy.com or try www.sr20deforum.com
Thanks ca18guy. I didn't figure it would be worth the money spent but I was confused when I saw heavythrottle offering the awd components. From what I understand the sr motor should bolt right up to the se-r trannmission. Is this correct? I'm asking my questions over on freshalloy as well. Thanks.
