Just curious if anyone's gutted a cat out there. Does it affect the 02 sensor to the point of bad drivability? Besides it's being illegal as ####. What kind of hi-flo cats are better for the truck exhaust? 2" throughout with a single muffler now. stock manifold

Well, truck or not, you've got the same engine that we've got, so you're going to want the same type of exhaust.... They may be kinda hard to find though. Find out if any exhaust shops around there do mandrel bending, and get a custom exhaust done. I'd say 2.5 inch piping would be good.
I heard if you get rid of your cat you'll get ecu errors because of the o2 sensor not being their. I don't know what kind of errors or if you can still drive the car ok though.

Yeah, I have a custom exhaust now. It used to neck down to 1-3/4 after the cat, where it went into a double muffler setup. Really restrictive. I don't know if the sx' come with that silly double muffler. Now, it's 2" all the way, with a single 4cyl perf muffler (dynomax). Even though it's the stock manifold, it's still loads better. Just looking for that extra little bit, and I know the cat is the weak area, being it's stock. I imagine I'll have to poney up the dough and get a nice hi-flo perf cat.

i'm going to get a high flow cat after I get my N1 Dual, and yeah, the sx has that dual tipped thing that you're talking about. like... two 3/4 inch pipes or something stupid like that.
i punched my cat out and had it like that for several months, didnt notice any major difference in power at all, but it clicked and sputtered every time i shifted gears.
i found a place that seels high flow cats cheap around the university, i'm getting it on thursday.

mine has been gutted for over 2 weeks now, like i said i don't know if i had any gains with it because i had the exhaust done at the same time. i don't have any issues with sputtering or ecu errors.
