If this is a repost then my bad, but....

Do you guys know what your car weighs? and what model is it?

I'm curious because I have a SR S14 that is fully stripped, and have yet to make it to a truck stop to see what I tip the scales at.

I'm assuming so. My friend said that is all he did.

My dad is also a regular at one of the Flying J's around here, so maybe I can benefit from that.

Steel recycling yards have scales too, pay them $10 and you can weigh in. My old S14 in it's last days hit 2520lbs. before I parted it out. The new one is probably more like 2950. But at least it's quiet.

gutted as a motherfucker
all stock steel body panels
all stock glass

approximately 2400-2450 with 1/2 tank of gas
approximately 2650-2700 with my 250lb fat ass and 1/2 tank of gas

It's been a while since I got the car corner weighted so it may be a bit lighter now. I'm putting all the heater stuff back in though as I am SICK as fuck of fogged up windows. I've got some more gutting to do before the next corner weight too. I've gotten to the point where I am cutting out non-structural metal from various places in the body/chasis as I have nothing left to strip out of the car.

What I was going to do once I got my car registered was to just go down to Flying J or some other truck stop, and see if I could hop on their scale real quick.

Haha you gotta love the scales at the farm.
My RX-7 (FC) weighed in at 2740 with me and a half tank. This was when I first got it, its now a lot lighter and stil losing a lot of weight.
My bros S14 is about 3000 pounds too, but not as baller as SonomaDrifters
O and my dads Legacy GT is like 3300

I think some people here are making their cars lighter than they really are.

Every single bracket that I am not using has been removed (rear seat, seat belts, spare tire, etc...). I gutted the rear bumper support, which saves a shit ton of weight BTW. I gutted the front bumper support, which also saves a shit ton of weight. I need to gut the hood, decklid, and doors before the next corner weight session.

The scale is off, it has to be. A full interior fastback with an rb20 cannot weigh what you claimed. It is impossible. A full interior fastback with an rb20 weighs about as much as you claim that your s-14 weighs and a full interior s-14 with a ka weighs at least 200lbs more then you claim yours does. I know the weights of these cars, even if you take a picture I will still tell you that you are wrong.

comparing it to everyone else's weight, you are probably right.

KA-T (that adds a solid ~50lbs, between the intercooler, manifold, turbo, etc...)

2695lbs with less than half a tank.

Weight reduction:

Nothing in the trunk...otherwise, FULL interior.
24lb battery
AL 1-piece driveshaft (12lbs lighter than stock)
lightweight flywheel
sunroof removed (tinted plexi in place of it)
rear seatbelts removed
no airbags
no air conditioning
Sparco EVO2 front seat (fixed mount, no slider...that's extra weight!)
Enkei RPF1 (pretty light for 17x9.5 all around)
...I think that's most the big stuff.

...

I wish it were lighter.

Your car is a dedicated track-only car, right?

Gutting the doors on my DD would be to risky/unsafe for me. Hats off to you sir.

I'm not completely gutting them, the crash bars will still be in them. I'm just removing a few pounds of metal from the inside sheet metal. I won't go to fiberglass doors untill I have a full cage with door bars. My car is pretty much track-only, but even if it was trailered to and from the track I still wouldn't remove the door bars untill I had a full cage with door bars.

Ahh. Makes more sense. Your talking about the inside panel, the one that the handle bolts to etc...

Reminded me of the kid who wanted to make his own aluminum doors w/o any reinforcment/door bars.
