Ok guys, need your help because i dont want to make a mistake

Keep in mind i am using 300zx brakes in the front

Volk Gram Lights 57pro
18x8 Front OFFSET +40
18x9 Rear OFFSET +37

ARE those the right offsets i should be using?
and what size tires should i go with?

thanks

the way I look at it is every half inch equalls to 10mm wider tire.

So

My setup (going on today) on s14

17X8.5 +35 235/40/17 will probably require spacer to clear coilovers. Zbrakes'll fit fine.

17X9 +35 245/40/17 fit perfect.

I came up with these sizes with help from dousan and dorifto plus i went and took a look at the track model 350z that uses a similar setup.

Hope this at least gives a point to start by.

i know the rear is ok
but the fronts..er..dont know

r33 gtr wheels are 17x9 +30
so +5 more is fine and you'll clear everything

i know only certain sizes of wheels and what offsets sooooo..cant say for the fronts

so how about a +30 offset in the front

they only offer a +22 +30 and +40 for that wheel

Dousan_PG

then those are gram light Pros

Pros you pick ANY Offset you want. its custom.

+30 should be fine imho. but DONT QUOTE ME ON THAT!

its what they have instock

i know they are custom.

so i am looking at
18x8 front w/ +30 offset
18x9 Rear w/ +37 offset

how about tires?

If you go to Volk's website, you'll see that they have A, B, and C disks in those wheels. You need either the A, or B discs to fit the Z brakes. Contrary to what Aaron is saying, the Gram Light 57Pros *do* come in specific offsets and bolt patterns.

http://www.rayswheels.co.jp/emenu/wheel.html

For the 18x8s up front, you can get the +30 offset wheels with the A disk, and that will flush you out nicely. In the back, I'm not sure where you're getting the +37 number, but they have a +38 listed in the C disc. That should be OK if you keep the OEM brakes on...the C disc won't fit Z brakes though. You'll need to get either the +40 or +22 offset in the B disc for that. And the +22 will need some serious camber.

Anyway, my choice would be 18x8 +30 up front and either 18x8 +22 out back or 18x9 +40

If you want to check offset stuff, use this calculator:

ok, so here is what i got so far.

18x8 disk type A +30 offset for the front
18x9 disk type b +40 offset for the rear

BUT WHAT ABOUT TIRES? what are some recommended sizes?

225/40 or 235/40 up front...and a 255/35 or 265/35 out back

yo. personally, i would do 235/40 up front and 265/35 in back. gives the same 820 revs per mile. nice. get it.

NiteKids setup=

17x9 +35 17/255/40

well i ordered the rims today. gonna take me 90 days until i see them

hopefully went with the right offsets and disk types. i went with a b disk and +40 offset in the rear, even though i dont have z brakes in the rear. so it will give me a buffer incase i ever in the future do it.

as for tires, ill wait until i get them in.

A question: why 18s?

Also either 30 or 40 would work in the front because the tires are going to have to be narrow like 225 or maybe 235 absolute MAX.

he can run 235/40 up front with no problems.

and he's getting 18s cuz it's cool, it's on an S14, and he has more than enough power to back it up.

Cheers,

And a 18 inch wheel is better for that amount of power than 17 because??

I was wondering if he was planning some kind of massive brake upgrade. :D

Nitekids: Can I get a picture of your wheels setup? Is it a S13 or 14? Thanks.

let me remind you that my car is now the company car and it has to represent a showy look to promote the company at shows.

the drag strip, i have now volk te37 15x9 for the rear with hoosier slicks to go with it.

i chose 18's because 17's dont cut it for me anymore. i think the car will look good with 18's and the ings type r body kit.

Ah, makes sense. The only downside is that stock Z brakes look pretty small in 18's.

i wonder if their is a way to use a bigger rotor and make some type of caliper relocation thingy, like AEM does for the hondas when they use their stock calipers, a huge rotor in the front would look SWEET!!

relocation would be easy (make some steel spacers). finding a rotor that would fit would be the hard part. if it's a show car, just get the Brembo kit and write it off. :)

It'd probably be better just to source some R34 GT-T stuff if you're going to do that... That's basically what they are, Z brakes spaced out to 310mm (versus 280mm). Same basic caliper design but they sit 30mm further out, same pad and all.

hmmm,. I know JWT sells the SKYLINE brake upgrade for the 300z and I get Nismo parts, and the skyline upgrade is in that too,...

geez, tough decision

IIRC, it's a 332x32mm rotor, and it uses the calipers from the Ferrari F50...you even get Ferrodo pads (same as F50). It's only like $3k

LOL...www.brembo.com

OR you could buy the Brembo's from the Track model 350z :) supposedly they are the same brembo's from the R34 GTR, and should actually be a straight bolt on affair. As long as you have the wheels to clear them :)
