I was wondering is it necessary to change the front ball joint boot if it is ripped?

yes u want to replace the boot. would be a great idea if u also clean out the old grease and regrease it.

Normally the boots are all "made in"/one piece of the ball joint, I've seen some "replacement" boots for them but they are not that great and normally by the time you notice they are torn its too late and the whole ball joint needs to be replaced

Just replace the ball joint. Not that expensive, just like sileighty said its probably already fucked up.

k thanks for all info and it didnt get torn over time it was fine while trying to swap the lca to another car, it was accidently ripped
as far as replacement boot goes i have tried to find some but failed. i was wondering if anyone know a place?

You can do the ball joint yourself in a day if you have a shop with a machine press and an air compressor to make all the suspension bolts cake. I did it overnight because I had to drop it off at a shop without tools, its actually pretty easy. Taking apart the front suspension of a 240 is cake.
