Anybody hit up Circuit CIty for some good deals on shit?

I got a camera bag and a couple DVDs.

Was really considering a TomTom and a double DIN.... had them yesterday. Just hit the 50% off mark.
Went around to a couple stores today.... then end of the day I went back to my local one. everything GONE. no more double DINs or TomToms.

bummage.

I thought about it, until I realized their 40% off price on an LCD TV was the same as the list price of the same TV at Best Buy across the street, and $200 higher then the price I found on Amazon.

Not such a deal. No wonder they went under.

got some good DVDs... $3 and whatnot.

Video camera bag for $10.

was gonna score the navigation for $100 and the Double DIN for like $250

I went to a store this morning that had them for 100

went to another store that had none

then went to the first store again and they sold out.

They had different models.

they are 50% off.

anywhere between 100 and 200 is what i saw.

Like ThatGuy said, Circuit raised all the prices on their products so that when they were marked down 50% they would still make money off them. Although you can still find some awesome deals, but mainly on accessory items not on big ticket items though.

The wife and I went there a little while ago to check out the DSLR, but their "Sales" price was higher than retail at BBY. I would suggest double checking prices before buying anything.

They hire liquidators to do the final selling and they dont really mark down shit. They make it seem like they are 25% below MSRP or whatever and that price is the same as if CC wasnt liquidating.. its all marketing hype and shopper stupidity.

That's not to say that little items like DVDs and CDs arent at good prices tho.

I didn't go there to buy a $3000 TV that was marked down to $2980.

Buying CDs for $6 or DVDs for the $10 is good.

I guess a lot of people were going there expecting to buy huge lavish things and (as always) live beyond their means.

Swung by today and picked up a new box for my subs. Much lighter and smaller than my old one. Now my car goes bump again and has trunk space, all for $24. A two-10" box for well less than I was getting quoted for a single-10" box at stereo shops. :)

As a soon to be unemployed Circuit City employee i will tell you that the liquidator took everything back up to msrp then they discount it as they feel. no CC employees have any effect on pricing but they usually go downevery week so keep looking. Some peoplein my store (customers) are just assholes, i had aguy tell me he bought the same ipod at christmas for less so i told him to quit bitchin about $5. he continued to bitch until i told him to get out and he said to make him. as i went to take my jacket off my delivery driver (6' 4" 250lbs big guy) stood up and the guy left. apparently it was my fault apple said not to discountthem more than 10%

I went in and cussed out the liquidator in front of the employees. She came up to me and was like "Can I help you?" I say sure. Then she goes and points to 3 different employees by her and goes "Well, these guys can help you." I went from 0 to pissed off in 3 seconds. Why did you ask me if you could help me if you couldn't help me? "Well I'm the liquidator and I have things to do." You aren't doing shit. You've been standing their for the whole time I have been in here. I was asking an employee for help till you decided to chew him out right in front of me and put on you drama show. Best Buy still has better prices.

Then she went back to pouting in the corner.

It's rough and tough.

Why would the employees be nice?
They don't have to. Are they going to get FIRED?

At any rate, seems that most of the stores are pretty cleaned out by now.

I'm pumped on my $3 DVD of STRIPES.

The other nice thing about Circuit City is their love for drifting. They sponsor this really cool Genesis car I think.

I went to the local one Saturday, it has been picked over, nothing left but overpriced televisions, Carlos Mencia DVDs and blank DVDs that can be had at Staples across the street for less.

I won't be bothering going back.

fuck circuit city, they still owe me a $50 dollar rebate from Black Friday 2008 that I haven't received yet. This is what they said:

DEAR CIRCUIT CITY CUSTOMER,

If you are inquiring on the status of your Circuit City mail-in rebate, at this time we are unable to provide a status
update as to your particular rebate submittal. It is our intent to provide further instructions as soon as they become available. Please visit Breaking News (http://investor.circuitcity.com/announcement.cfm) for the most current information. We appreciate your patience as we work through this difficult situation.

i know this probably isn't the right place, but anything i can do ?? i know i know, $50 bucks seems little, but today's economy, every little bit counts. I called and get this exact same recording.

Good deals were had by those that knew what to look for.

People looking for 90 inch TVs to fit in their dorm room probably didn't do so hot.

Thread lock.
Peace out Circuit City.... where service is state of the art.
