a complete SSS unit will probably cost near 1500 dollars USD. not shippd. 900 in japan, importer mark up, another 200 ish, and shipping on top. email jspec and see what they say.

I go to Japan every 6 months so that me and my girlfriend can visit her parents. So you are telling my I can walk across the street from her house (in Japan) order a Nismo SSS from Nissan Red Stage and lug it all the way back here for around $900????

No. Good luck getting that thing on the airplane. Had this discussion with someone else. The LSD kits are VERY heavy, and kind bulky. Try getting something that looks like a miniature a-bomb through xray, and not declaring it in customs.

"Why no ma'am, that's not a bomb. You see it's an LSD. You stick these two flange things in here and here and there's fluid that goes inside it too. Then when you turn this thing on this side, that one..."

"SECURITY!!!"

one of my friend's mom came back w/ spark plugs for him from HK

to keep it short she got hassled quite a bit about it hahah
made her take off the shoes and everything.

and spark plugs are small

Yah, dumbass Lindsay wanted me to ship his SSS to GA so he could take it on the plane to HI. Needless to say, I convinced him out of it pretty quickly.

well I know how to deal with these people hahaha

At Kansai international last summer, I had to bring through some Daikei Boss Hubs for Sam and everyone thought it was a bomb when it shown up on the Xray there hahaha. I just showed it to them, and went on my way. Besides, the girlfriends, bestfriend works at the airport(airline) we usually take (Korean Airlines).

other silly stuff I've brought over... 2 sets of 4rims, Wangan wing for coupe, 3 pairs of Silvia headlights. Its nothing a little manpower can carry hahah Girlfriend does not care what I bring with us anyways. I'll try it this coming June :D

Jspec e-mailed me back and said they do not carry the sss.
So, any other sources?

ask if you can speical order it. its not a normal item the LSD will run you NEAR 1500 USD. its NOT cheap. and depending on who orders it, it might just be the LSD

remeber this is a PROFESSIONAL UNIT
it is used by koguchi, nomuken, kazama, etc etc et. bascially all the d1 pros who drive nissan 180sxes and silvias.
its not cheap.

a normal LDS: 800 for one choice: 2 way no shafts
SSS a full clutch 16 (i think) plate (normal nismo is 12) 1.5 and 2 way adjustable. 900
want a kit? side shafts are 140 each. shipping 80+ pound unit form japan: 200 probably. getting it to your location: add more. getting it installed. add more

its not for the small wallet
but if you have enough, see if someone can special order it. maybe if your local nsisan dealer is good they can

my estimates may be high but i dont want to say it will cost you 1,000 dollars for the unit when it wont

businesses make profit. might not be worth the work for the profit they'll get

a normal nismo 2way is MORE then enough for most.

Well, since getting this lsd might turn into a pita, does anyone have any experience with the ATS lsds. Since they are also located here in the U.S. I shouldn't have any problem getting one of their units.

And, I never expected it to be inexpensive..................Eddie

Well according to ATS's website Godspeed in michigan is a dealer: and, since I'm in northern Indiana I think this might be a more reliable direction to go.

Wow, finally something I can jump in on. I just bought an ATS diff. 2-way of course. From what I read it's a pretty serious differential. Not for real daily driving. They make versions for the LSD and Non-LSD rear ends that are direct swaps (pretty nice of them huh). I looked it over. Definitly a quality item. Very worth the sum I payed for it (and I got a discount).

Ohh, and whoever says that a diff is 80lbs, then I'm super-f***ing-man. Get real. It's like 40lbs TOPS. GET SOME MUSCLES!

full kit with lsd, oils, new gasket, 2 side shafts, back cover and packaging form japan, that's more then 40lbs.

Why is nobody considering the KAAZ LSD? It's in US, no need to wait. I Bought them with the drive shafts and everything I need for just under $1000. And it works perfectly for me. Why go though all the pain looks for a similar unit in Japan??

It was a kit and came with the side shafts? Where did you get it?

FYI - Nismo list price on the SSS LSD is Y110,000, which is direct from the catalog. The Red Stage I was at gave me and my friend 10% off list price, I'm not sure if this is standard but I didn't ask for it...or complain. ;)

Dan at Godspeed has been around for at least a few years now and has a good rep as far as I know. Looks like he only has the carbon diff listed, I'll have to see if he has the "metal" diff. http://godspeed.hack.net/ATS.html

The VLSD is better than nothing...but...

Just the diff is less than 40lbs. but if its the whole rear end my s13 vlsd weighed 70plus lbs

No, it's not a kit, but kaaz carrys those side shafts and they will pack and ship whatever you need to install the LSD.
