So I just got my order from FRSport delivered today, just as I was leaving to work. I ordered a Spec II Exhaust, Megan Testpipe & Circuit Sports Poly Hangers (old ones are destroyed & I had tax return money, so why not...)

Well I checked it out after I got home from work and everything looks good except...:

Aren't there supposed to be a set of springs that hold the 2 pieces together? cuz I dont have those...

I bought mine a couple years ago and I didn't receive them either. I used a couple carburetor springs I had laying around. The fit of the piping was so tight though that I removed the springs later down the road with absolutely no ill effects.

You can

1. contact the people you bought it from.
2. Contact Buddy Club.

I'd go with choice 1 first.

The springs are useless anyways. I used a 3" t-bolt clamp to stop the rattle from the slipjoint on my old spec2. Worked like a charm. You are also going to want to put a couple extra bolts in the silencer if you are going to use it. It rattles like hell and sounds really shitty if you don't.

haha, the silencer.
Mine started working well when i bent the tip of the piping at Willow Springs.
Before that, UGH.

oh, and please, spray paint the silencer when you get it. Flat black or something.

It looks horrible if you don't. A big round shiny circle.

Haha thanks guys. Before I contact them, I wanted to be sure my understanding was correct on the springs. I will contact the company I bought it from first. It'll be a couple days before I can install anyways b/c we just got hit with more snow and my dads using the garage for his plow trucks =/

Secondly, when you guys installed, did you slide the 2 pieces together, after bolting it all up, or did you put them together then install. I'd say first one if it were me to make sure all is lined up. I don't see why they wouldn't just flange it but *shrugg*

I probably won't be using the silencer but ill be sure to reinforce it if I do, and yea when I saw it I even said to my buddy "this would look ugly as hell."

Put the pieces together and bolt it on, its simple. The two piece part comes into play when you want to change diff fluid/adjust toe/change axles.

Silencer helps keep it quiet (mostly by making the car sound WEIRD and crappy), like said above spray paint it flat black.
Make sure to use a lock washer or two on the bolt or you will lose it.

I would advise against poly exhaust hangers- use stock rubbery ones and place a hose clamp around it and tighten until you have it as snug as you can get it to body. This exhaust has fantastic ground clearance.

i also recommend chopping off the tow hook before installing for more clearance.

I don't see why you would advise against it. By putting hose clamps around your stock hangers you are doing the same thing, making the hangers stiffer. I have urethane hangers on my car and they kick ass. My exhaust barely moves at all.

^^^This is NECESSARY for the spec2. Cut the tow hook off.

^^ Good to hear some feedback on the hangers, and I was already plannin on cutting the tow hook off. I love how this thing sits snug.

This exhaust has fantastic ground clearance.

You bet! That was another reason I went with the Exhaust, my roads are shit and I have 15's with low pro tires & coilovers, so I want to make sure i have the most clearance between it and the ground.

So should i just go to Home Depot and grab some springs to get this sucker on, not even worry about it... orr.... what do you think.

I think the urethane hangers do a fine job of keeping the exhaust from moving - BUT using the hose clamps will get you an extra 1/2" or so of ground clearance.

I wouldn't worry about the springs- maybe get the shop that sold it to you to paypal you 5 bucks and go enjoy a delicious fast food meal.

Hangers, no pun intended, are hanging in there. The exhaust doesnt move at all, as expected. Install went smoothly, I was actually able to use some Brake Springs to hold the 2 pieces together, they were perfect length and perfect tension.
