I know this is ganna sound like I have a bad clutch, but I'm sure that's not the problem. I got a motor/tranny outta my friends 240 so I know how everything ran before buying it. I went from sohc to dohc and got pretty much everything but the motor and tranny itself off the forums. Everything seems to be running "decent", but I'm having a problem as far as the clutch engaging while driving.
It's weird, when I shift and let my clutch out it will take a sec for the clutch to actually engage. Also it also doesn't sound like the clutch is fully engaging after I let the clutch out between shifts while driving. My rpms will shoot up damn fast without my car moving when I hit the gas while in gear too. Sounds like a bad clutch, but it was in good condition before. Wtf can cause this? Was wondering if maybe not bleeding the clutch lines properly or adequetaly can cause this....my clutch pedal feels kinda laggy coming back up top...
thnx 4 the advice..

not being bled can definately cause that.
i would bleed it and see if that doesn't help

^^ Yeah maybe you didnt bleed it all the way also check to see if your slave cylinder has any leaks

Does it go into gear smoothly? You never know, it could be your clutch but isay check for leaks first onslave and under the dash where the brake booster goes.

i was under the impression that if it wasnt bled properly there would be a problem getting it INTO gear. IE the clutch is fully depressed yet there is no engagement(so its like the pedal is actually only 1/2 way depressed)
Personally it sounds to me like the clutch is slipping

I had a somewhat similar problem and it was connected to the issue of bleeding the clutch. But the clutch still didn't feel exactly how I wanted it.
You're in socal so go to your nearest auto parts places (I went to Clark's in Lakewood) and get yourself a master cylinder, slave cylinder & if you want get an ss clutch line. After I installed all of that on my car I never had a problem directly related to the clutch.
If you don't have a problem with your clutch, changing your clutch hydraulics should fix (almost) everything with it. Then if you get your hydraulics straightened out then you know it ISN'T the hydraulics.

Get a ss clutch damper bypass line and try that. If it's not the problem it's still awesome to have, but its one of the cheaper things to start replacing/upgrading also then follow what lightsource says, likely that will take car of it. When i thought my clutch was going bad i replaced the slave and added the bypass line, it took care of my problem.

Sounds more like a faulty pressure plate...

Correct When the clutch is bolted down to the fly wheel the clutch is Engaged untill the clutch pedal is pressed it is then disengaged to allow shifting.
So bleeding the clutch pedal system has nothing to do with the clutch slipping
Maybe when installing the the Tranny the TOB sleeve was not pushed all the way back so its hung up on the tranny output shaft sleeve?
Just a thought.
