View Full Version : Kyokugen Lug Nuts (Read if you have em or if you're a wheel expert)
I just installed my new wheels w/ these lug nuts. However, it seems the wheel studs are too short, thus the lug nuts dont go in all the way. Is your car the same way? Should I get new studs?

i have these and work great on all m wheels
so what type of wheels do you have?
are they stock studs?
are you using any spacers?
they fit, but they dont go all the way in
i got rota slipstreams
i have stock studs
no spacers

how many threads does it grab?
also, are you using any spacers?

Im not sure how many threads it grabs, but i'd say a little more than half way..u kan still see that it didn't go all the way in. kinda looks like "tuner style" lug nuts now

mine are the same. i get more then 1/2 of it threaded on stock studs.
if you look at their size, they are about same size as the stud iirc. add the wheel to that..i wouldnt worry, but i'll double check mine tonight for you.
i just torque em down and hit the track. had them for about 2 months w/ no problems.
okay cool, im not worried anymore

I had those too. Sounds like it's fine. They don't go on all the way because they are suppose to be able to accomodate long studs if I'm correct.

um if they (lug nuts) dont go on all the way then how can you torque it down???

in order to properly torque any threaded connection, you should have at least the diameter of the bolt plus 1/4 engaged into the nut, if this is the case then u should be fine; otherwise you may strip the stud while torqueing. If the connection reaches spec torque then everything is fine.
Any torqued bolt connection is at it's strongest @ full torque, so if it gets there it doesn't matter how much thread u used.
I don't think that wheel studs are typically torqued to max torque (just shy of plastic deformation) so you're probably safe even w/out full penetration.

the lug nuts i have on my car came from kragens HHAHHA
make sure u use a torque wrench when tighting your lug nuts. or so it says on the box

Oh my bad, you do torque it down, but the lugnuts are open at the end right? Meant that it LOOKS like it doesn't go all the way on because of the open end tuner style is for longer wheel studs.

What do you guys torque your lug nuts to anyway? I've heard 75ft-lbs from a friend of mind that worked at a tire shop, but that seems a bit low on the torque wrench.. What's the actual recommended number?

i use 85-90 ft-pounds and heavy drifting and track use. never never never ever had a problem.
I use 110 Nm for both daily use and track. that's roughly what Dousan is using... I think *slightly* higher. Kyokugen lugnuts don't recommend you tighten them beyond 118Nm which is in the 90ft-lb region.

haha
anyway, kyokuygen says 88 - 90 lbs of torque when u torque it down. Thats what it says on the actual package.
