Does anybody know what the resistance in the airbag is so that I can add a resistor to turn off the airbag light

since your bag is out, the srs system wont work... why not just remove the lamp from the cluster?

that is why i want to find the resistance so i can put a resistor in. that will trick the module into thinking that there is an airbag there, that way the passenger airbag will still work and there will be no light.

gotcha.. test the resistance of the bag you removed.

if you find out the resistance let me know cause i need to put a resistor in mine as well

I have one laying around in my garage. i will test it out and let you know.

i would have done that, but there is a high possability that the airbag will deploy when you send current through it to test for resistance.

Why would you send current through it to test resistance?

That's how multimeters work when checking resistance...applies a small voltage and measures how much comes back.

so it's obviously less they 9 volts right? you think that would set off a bag?

ok, so i just went down to ASPEC and bought the airbag delete harness for $20.
easy and done.

where is the ASPEC at?..I wanna do the same

fyi you can and i have set air bags of w/ a 9volt battery.

considering the auto system runs on 12V, I am surprised people doubted that.

dunno,

IIRC when S14 pass Side air bag deploys it will destroy your dash....if you need new ones i've just disconnected my driver And pass siad air bags....

That air bag delete harness is made by Works Bell right?

I bought their short hub w/SRS but the connection on the resistor wire didnt fit the type of connections my S14 has (white connection shown in 1:55 and yellow connection shown in 2:20 of this video).
YouTube - NRG Steering wheel quick release how to install 101 tech (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FDU3MoxMzYM&feature=channel_page)

I carefully broke off the plastic connection on the WB resistor and pulled the resistor off, plugged it on the SRS hub and nothing. The SRS light still blinked. I then tried plugging it on the yellow connection and still nothing.

did you reset the light?

Messing with the ECU to reset the light? I know where the ECU is and how to pull the plastic covering the ECU, but dont know how to pull the ECU out much less reset it.

No. The ECU has nothing to do with the SRS system. Do a search please, we've covered this a million times, same procedure for diagnostics of the SRS system, key on, depress switch 7 times in 5 seconds, etc.

Ok. I did research and got tons of info. I tried the "push 5 times in 7 seconds" just like the manual says but it didn't seem to work. I also tried the "7 times in 5 seconds" and oddly that did work. The code I got was the light turned on for 3 seconds then off for 2,3 seconds and then flashed 2 times. Then it went off and restarted sending the code. I turned the key back to the off position and then pushed it back to the on position, then did the 7 times in 5 seconds. I counted 1-1000, 2-1000 and so on until I did 7 seconds and pressed the door switch one more time. What happened next was the air bag light went back to flashing on and off like in the first place. I tried it over and over on saturday and again today, monday, and it did the same thing. I managed to get it on diagnosis mode time and time again (it gave me the code) then when i tried reseting it would get off diagnosis mode and went back to flashing off and on. By the way, the resistor is plugged on all the way. I also tried disconnecting the car battery but so far no success. I'm driving it around in diagnosis mode right now.
