I am about to start mounting my S13 SR in my custom tube chassis. I have been looking for the angle the engine sits at when its mounted in the car so I don't get oiling problems when I'm on the track. I also was wondering what the best way to find a common center on the engine for line up is, I was planning on just using the crank and trans output shafts as a common point but I wanted to know if there was another easy way to get the measurements. TIA

Driveline alignment first above all else. Oil starvation second.

Line the propeller shaft up properly with the diff. Then worry about oil pan baffles.

So i have the driveline align figured out, does anyone know what angle the motor needs to sit at?

seems like all you would have to do is line get the oil pan level to the ground.

As straight with the diff as possible.

I've not done a custom fabbed install of an SR engine, but I have on small block v8 engines and I know that they do not sit level. They usually sit with 3 degrees of downward angle.

Whether that applies to SR's or not could be in question as I believe on the old V8's it had something to do with the floats in the carbs.

If you have a car to use for reference, you could pull the valvecover and put a level on the head...or even better, directly on the block (no sense in pulling the head just for this though).

Perhaps someone out there in the middle of their build with the head off the engine can measure what angle the engine sits in the car.
