I'm looking for a used daily driver for around 15k and these are showing up with really low mileage and prices. I wanted a G35 coupe but can't find one in my price range under 50k miles. I know they had oil consumption problems at first and flooding issues but i'm wondering if they later models have cleared up. I probably would get rid of the car before the powertrain warranty is up so long term repair costs aren't a main concern.

Anybody have one or know any good info(wheel fitment, etc?)

+1

I was expecting a bit more when I drove it.

It was still a lot of fun to drive.

They arent bad with power once you put intake and exhaust, but from factory they are terribly restricted.

found a 07 with only 16k miles for $17k, seems like a fair price.

mannnn FD > rx8 lol

jk, even the rx8 doesnt get that great of fuel millage, but i guess its not too bad.
rx8 has more room than fd.

What other cars you consider? I would seriously throw a 350z in the mix against the 8.

An FD for a daily? Fuck that noise.

The 350z is a two seater. The RX-8 has quite a bit of room for what it is plus a decent trunk. It is probably the most practical "fun" car for the money.

I'm not a big fan of rotaries but, I have spent a shit ton of time in an RX-8 and I love em.

exactly, 350z is too small and is not as practical from what i've read. like i said G35 coupe would be great just having trouble finding one(i'm very picky). I also like the Acura TSX, again not a fast car at all but still a slightly sporty ride that i like.

Looks like Racing Beat intake and exhaust and Cobb Accessport with some ignition upgrades would be the only performance mods i'd do.

This guy has the greatest job in the world, but his accent is so annoying. Every time he says Nissan and 350zed I want to punch him.

If you could find one nowadays. I rarely ever see them anymore around while driving.

for the 15k price-range, I'd be more inclined towards the mazda-speed miata. you could easily find something with 15-20k mi at that price. arguably even better handling, better mpg, and probably easier to extract additional power since its turbo from the factory. lack of room to store junk/ppl would be the only drawback in terms of practicality.

I'd say that's more of a chassis revamp. Kinda like S13 to S14 status. The SE3P already went through it's face lift phase.

The ms miata would be a good choice, if he could deal with those issues you stated, downpipe should be your first mod in that case hah

RX-8's are nice, but like everyone said a bit underpowered.... they also drink gas. My buddy has one as his "weekend car" i.e. he barely drives it and it has like 5k miles on it, haha. We took a trip once like an hour fifteen away in it... I was looking at the gas gauge moving down as we were cruising on the highway. Def not good on gas.

If you're looking for a daily driver why not buy a 99-04 3 series? Whats wrong with a stock S14 as a daily driver anyways?

i personally think they are a very fun car to drive, they feel like a big go kart to be honest with you. or atleast they handle like one.. but if your buying one just make sure it comes with a warrenty.. i know they are known to have some issues. just make sure its covered. if your looking for something nice to daily. pick up an audi s4... they are quick, nice looking, drive amazing, and decent priced

the one i'm looking at has 16k miles so its still well under warranty, mazda put a 8 year 100k mile warranty on the engines too which is far longer than i would keep it.

lflkajfj12123

isnt that the extended warranty

i think mazda's normal one was like 3-5 years 60k

Yup. To get rid of carbon build up. Overly abusing the Renesis and overly baby-ing it isn't healthy for the motor.

I had an FC for 3 years. It was extremely fun to drive. I had an FD fucking awesome car. Like posted earlier sex on wheels. I've never owned an RX-8. The car is roomy and it sounds great.

The only thing i have against it is that in my experiences i went through 4 engines 2 turbos and a lot of money. If you're up for it you're gonna have the time of your life. If not look along the lines of an Evo.

I bought my RX-8 Jan of last year, it is literally the funnest car I have ever driven. Stock from the factory it handles like its on rails.

The car has room 4 for + cargo.
It loves to rev, 9k redline 10k with COBB accessport reflash.

The 8 has a great following and there are plenty of aftermarket parts for it and quite a few turbo kits that will make it very fast.

Rotary engines are not reliable if you don't take care of them and stay on top of oil changes but there a few guys over on 8club that have 100k+ on their RX8s with no major issues, one of the main things that happens on them is the coils go and have to be replaced but there is a ton of stuff that the warranty will cover and pretty much all of the issues have been resolved.

Gas mileage is not great, I get around 18-19 MPG on average and I'm usually on the gas like nothing but this is great if you like spirited driving as you'll be raking through the gears (6 speed) with rifle bolt precision gear box.

The car doesn't even shake at 9k since the engine and power delivery are so smooth it is a driver's car in every sense of the word and dead sexy.

Also there are airbags up the ass in the 8 and it has a very high crash safety rating.

I've put about 9-10k on my car in the last year and it has performed flawlessly with only thing being replaced being the coils. I love the car, and have considered getting rid of it as I have a e34 5 series and the s13 that I daily drive but I can't do it. The car is wayy to much fun to drive and although it may not have an assload of power it has enough for 90% of the people and is B-stock class with the SCCA.

I say go for it if you can afford the gas mileage.
They're nice,bad gas mileage,plenty of aftermarket support.good lines.i love the sound of ported rotaries.good luck =d
Renesis engines don't get ported, its FI or bust.

and they're supposed to burn oil

its rotary life

They consume a quart of oil every 1000 miles or so depending on how you drive because there are oil injectors that inject oil (which is why no synthetic) into engine to keep the apex seals lubricated.

Heres some pics of mine.

By the way if you have any questions about them pm me and I can answer them to the best of my ability.

as long as you have warranty i say go for it, i had one for 5 months and it wasnt that horrible, but since mine was out of warranty and i got it on a trade for my 180sx i said its time to get rid of this when the a/c amplifier went on it and the dealer told me $900 to fix it lol.
