'Honda saved by Brazilian investors'
13 February 2009

According to various media the Honda Formula 1 team have raised sufficient funds to ensure that the team can at least compete in the first four races of the upcoming Formula One season. The team would also have signed up Brazilian driver Bruno Senna to race alongside Jenson Button.

According to British newspaper The Guardian the team raised around $30m funding from a group of Brazilian sponsors who support Senna.

The team would be running with Mercedes-Benz engines in Melbourne and more information is expected later this month.

Its not really Honda anymore, its just the honda f1 team , without Honda engines. But nice to see they are getting some support. its really a shame to see less cars on the f1 grid.

Honda F1 team, running with MB engines? How does that work exactly?

a few years back, Honda would supply the private team Super Aguri *japanese team, hence the "Super" lol* with f1 cars, they would basically sell the team their last years f1 chassis. lol. But Super Aguri couldnt keep up with the demanding costs and pulled out last year, and they where buying Honda f1 cars and racing em.

But before that, back in the 60s they had honda f1 cars.. than in the 80s they became an engine supplier to teams like Lotus, Mclaren etc.. (early 90s Mclaren Honda combo was untouchable, one of the greatest alliances ever). Than they went back into making F1 cars in the 2000s as their own team.

Figure just this time around, Mercedes will provide the team with engines, but still honda chassis..... But they will probably loose the Honda name since their F1 division is still being killed off i think, and basically its these financial supporters who are giving the F1 team support to still continue.

I wonder what their salaries are going to be like. The drivers themselves dont work for pennies.
