Brake Question

Well I want to start off by saying sorry if this subject has been beaten to death here... :hide:

But I have a '95 240sx that is currently running Z32 brakes in the front and 240 brakes in the rear. I know I can go with Sentra Brembos in the front and with STI Brembos in the rear. But what I cant seem to figure out is what will I need other than the calipers to make this work. Any info or links on this subject would be helpful.. -Thanks!

i dont see why you need to do bbk. z32 calipers are already a huge upgrade from stock so unless you plan to do extensive endurance races w/ your car, then i say use your money on other things.

if you can lock ur your brakes they are fine for now. No need to upgrade jsut because they look pretty.
Now if you can lock them up and you have abs, then we have some problems...

Even if you do do "endurance races," Z32 brakes with race pads and some good rotors will do plenty for a lightened 240.

Keep your z32 fronts and stock rears, and get a Z31 master cylinder (15/16"). That's the setup I've got right now, it's bomb.

not necessarily. Even shitty brakes should be able to lock on normal street tires.

well, if you do sentra brembos up front, you will need: new rotors, calipers, pads, brake conversion line

if you do STI brembos in the rear i believe you will need: calipers, pads, and rotors for sure. Im pretty sure you would have to get a new ebrake assembly too which would need a new ebrake line as well as rear brake conversion lines.

you would also need to upgrade the brake master cylinder which is a MUST

I'm not sure if anyone mentioned this but if you get sentra se-r brembos, you will have to redrill the rotor to 5 x 114.3 bolt pattern since they are 4 lug. Other than they are pretty much bolt on. You need brake lines just like any other brake swap.

And then sti rear, you need 300zx e brake assembly and 300zx rotors.

Allow me to give you one more option.

Q45 front brake upgrade: Calipers, pads, & rotors. THAT"S IT! I just did it to my S14 and I gotta say compared to the 300zx brakes all around, it's definitely got the stopping force and heat tolerance of the Z brakes. FOR WAY LESS MONEY. Plus you don't have to do the whole e-brake work since you're keeping the stock rears. Plus Z brakes have always been way too overpriced.

I paid 50 bucks for the calipers, and C/D rotors with ceramic pads for 150.00. So $200 bucks and I'm done with my brakes.

Yea I agree on the Q45 brake setup. I ran that setup before my r33 GTS and my current sti brembo setup. It was great braking power that was comparable to the r33 GTS calipers. Brembos blow everything out of the water though.

I got my rotors and pads for cheap through a friend so I think I spent 100 dollars on my whole Q45 setup. I actually have some Q45 calipers for sale right now. PM if interested.
