View Full Version : strong gas smell for valve cover

my buddy has an s13. ka24de. he is running really high idle and the other day we started trying to fix that. well we heard a whirrling/grinding sound. it sounded like it was coming from the head so we unscrewed the oil cap to look and see if we could see any shavings. when we did there was a super strong gas smell...so my guess is that will prob be part of the high idle problem. my question is..what could be wrong with it? i havne had a 240 in over 2 years. so my knowledge is now lacking. thanks for you help in advanced guys.

Pull the dipstick and check to see if that smells like gas as well, theres a good possibility you have an injector o-ring leak.

pcv is clogged def check that
