wow theres like a million ways to cause this...

if it smells sweet is coolant.. do u have clutch fan or electric fans..check to see if u have bubbles in your radiator...

Do a Compression and or Leak Down test

white smoke typically means water/coolant

black/blue = oil

bubbles in your radiator would = head gasket leak (i think, i just had 9 free pancakes so i might be muddled)

Holy fucked up info batman.:duh:

Black= running rich
Blue= coolant
White= oil

Bubbles in coolant could also mean that it just needs bleeding.

Not to be off subject but did you happen to get those free pancakes at IHOP? Because I had free pancakes there today as well lmao. I am actually having the same problem all of my gaskets have been replaced minus the head gasket so I am just going to replace that and see if it fixes my problem....either way I was going to replace it anyways.

if it's blue and white smoke there is a possiblity that your rings arn't expanding all of the way and you're possibly getting some blow by causing the smoke, not a lot of smoke, but a little mainly on accelereation for a short duration of time? eh just my $.02

vavle bein slightly bent can let oil or coolant leak in to the pistons or exhaust headers and burn off

well just did a compression test and i show that on 1 and 2 compression is 160 and 3 and 4 its at 170

Your compression is fine..And it still smokes?

How bad is it?

S13cl9kid
04-07-2009, 07:15 PM
well its pretty bad specialy after running a couple tims on the track starts to smoke more every one says i might be bruning oil but i cant find any leaks

White smoke is usually coolant but it can be oil. Did you do a cylinder leakdown test?

S13cl9kid
04-08-2009, 12:32 AM
no how do u do that

rex2sx
04-08-2009, 03:53 AM
To be accurate you have to go buy 1. Theyre not that expensive. They check to see how well your engine hold compression. You can have good compression numbers but fail on a leakdown.

It has 2 guages if you dont know what it looks like.

damm still smoking but runs strong

sounds like bad valve stem seals if the smoke is bluish or smells like crayons, if its white it could be a bad intake manifold seal/loose intake manifold bolts, there is a water passage right next to cylinder #1 intake runner

Awhile back my otherwise stock KA was putting out white smoke through the exhaust. It turned out to be a crappy fuel injector. Not sure if you checked yours out but it's worth a shot if you can swap another one in to test it out.

ive had a smoking problem thats white and i think its from running too rich or maybe overfilling oil. Just to give you a heads up. Check your tps as well it could cause you to run rich and white smoke will come out.
