Sound like bearing shavings? Just need a confirmation.
I don't have any pictures because I was in quite a hurry changing the oil, but I figure someone might have seen this before.
Nothing felt solid, but it was just a bronze/gold tint within the dark blackness of the oil.
edit:
SHIT! Wrong section, I thought this was tech.

Bearings, willing to bet rod bearings. Might wanna drop the oil pan for a better look. Let us know if you strike gold...

Damn, but that is what I was going with.
I was hoping someone would say "Nah, sometimes gold magically does that or maybe it was the sun." I dunno.
I'll have to do it Friday. I'll get back to you guys then w/ pictures too.

I appreciate that post man. It'll help me when I drop my pan.
Hopefully it doesn't look like that. But if it does. I guess I'll be in the market for a long block so I don't have any downtime between the rebuild.

So, I spent the last couple of hours trying to get the oil pan off.
2 butter knives and some busted wood later. It's still on there.
I tried to prey, but when I opened my eyes I saw that God hadn't had much success getting it off either. The oil came out black, but no gold/bronze deposits.
I'm about to say fuck it with the oil pan, it's pissing me off something serious.
I searched on how to remove it, in case there was some super-special way. I found threads talking about jacking the engine up, but that's now what I did last time and I got it to fall. If I hit it too hard I'm sure I'll dent it, but man that's what I feel like doing right now.
Oh well, I'm going to finish these Honeynut Cheerios and then get back at it.

If its a KA, forget dropping the pan, I wouldnt worry about it just yet. If its an SR, yah i'd be saving money for another bottom end when the time comes.
The only thing if its a KA is figuring out what may be causing it to get shavings, could be a low oil pressure. If thats the case then you have bigger things to worry about than just dropping the oil pan.

Pictures will be pointless.
Nothing in the oil or oil pan (I got it off around 9 using a scraper).
I'm wondering what it was now.
edit:
It's a SR20DET. But I'm with you on the saving thing. I'm going to go ahead and start saving up JIC.
