So, I was gonna turbo the KA with my tax refund, and a couple days before it came in my friend called up asking to borrow money. I'm no bank, so I hesitate... he says, "why don't you buy my RB?"... He tells me $800... so I jump on it.
So here's the skinny. He had 45 minutes to pull this RB25 out of a 95 GTS-T a while back, so he did what he could to snag the motor. Problem is, the wiring harness is cut. No big deal. Comes with no MAF either, and that sucks. The good thing is, it 1) has only 59,000km (showed me a pic of the gauge cluster), and 2) has a Greddy intake manifold on it (score!) and a tubular turbo manifold.
So here's what I'm looking at to swap it into my S14.
-Take the old harness, get another one, send them in to make 1 good S14 ready harness
-Koyo radiator and dual 12" Flex-a-lite fans
-Find a MAF
-FMIC kit
-DSS 1 piece driveshaft (Dunno if I want steel or alum.)
-Syko mount/outlet pipe kit
-3" Downpipe.
-Change timing belt, water pump, etc while its easy.
Is there anything I'm missing?

Don't you need the cross-member from the r33? Or am I thinking of something else?

You can use the R33 crossmember, or buy custom mounts. I opted for the mounts because 1) they use the KA crossmember and have no tranny mount problems, and 2) because the motor will sit lower and farther back, helping to offset for the added weight... and I head good things about the SyKo mounts.

Funny this was mentioned, I'm doing an RB26 right now in a friend's car. He got Syko mounts, they have two studs on the bottom to go through the crossmember instead of one. And they don't line up for shit, you have to slot the hole in the crossmember a good inch. Otherwise they look great.

Care to explain why?
I have a company truck to get me back and forth to work every day, and run whatever errands I need.

cuz then, you'd make yourself a pretty penny to have as backup in case you run into some crap in the near future

my friend did the same swap and the kit was designed to use the R33 cross member.

Oh and by the way good find on the rb25!!

Only reason he's selling for so little is because he's wanted to build an RB25 S14 for years, and I wouldn't get off of mine... so he wants me to put the car together so he can be part of the badassery... and he wants to take it for a spin.

I must have been mistaken... Which kit doesn't need the crossmember? Shit.

Sounds like you've got everything covered.
Sucks about the wiring harness. My buddy has an RB20 in his S13. Wiring harness was cut.
He still hasn't finished wiring it all up... So I get to do it. :eek3:
I'm saving cash right now to hopefully tackle the RB25 swap this summer. Gonna be using Ruckus Racing/Zerolift motor mount kit, since they're local. They make good stuff, you should check em out.

Good luck with your build! :coold:

The good thing about the syko mounts is that it allows the motor to fit a little further back and much lower which is a plus too. Just get the cross member it will look cleaner.
