I'm talking about all the recaros, brides, whatever, nice seats that have tears and holes. How is this happening?
Also, how do you protect the seat and avoid holes getting bigger/tearing new ones?

Just through wear like any other seat. Jumping in and out etc....
I know bride sells pads that wrap around areas that usually wear the most(side and knee bolstering):

Its usually from getting in and out of them, Its just normal wear from over time. Only way you could really prevent it is to lay something over the seat to where when you go to get out your leg never hits the seat, it hits something else via rag/towel whatever.

Honestly, why does everything taste like chicken? That's what I want to know.
Rubbing up against a bolster every day when you enter/exit a vehicle + time = natural wear on it

what I'm saying is that aftermarket seats seem to ALWAYS be fucked up. im assuming the fabric is just some cheaper stuff.
whereas OEM seats rarely seem to have problems unless it has like 150k miles +
same thing goes for steering wheels...am I the only one that's really careful with his stuff or something? how does a steering wheel get so freakin chewed up? even my oem one on my 188k mile car looks perfect...guess it really depends on how you treat your stuff

OEM seats don't hug you either. Therefore there is less friction against your body while climbing in and out.

:werd:All my seats are in perfect condition but my S13 came with the piece of shit rubber steering wheel that is falling apart, I was going to buy a nice vertex steering wheel with the money I got for christmas but shit happened with my car and that money went away.

Bingo. Friction=wear. Does your couch at home have a worn spot from you sitting in it? No. Why? You don't slide across it to sit down.

yeah I had the tear on the driver side leg bolster.
sliding in and out of that spot for years will do that.
I got the Bride leg/knee bolster thing that was posted above, for my new seat.
