No, as already mentioned, "Hoodride (http://images.google.co.uk/images?hl=en&q=hoodride&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&tab=wi)" is a VW trend. Civic guys have recently caught on and are copying.
Some people think its stupid to run overly stretched tyres and vinyl covered cars whilst some people think its stupid to drive a deliberately rusty car. Different strokes...

It was more fun when Team Rust did it like....10 years ago.As soon as I saw the civic in the first pic thats what I thought of. I remember people saying it was stupid blah blah blah.......then everyone does it and it "cool" ................oh well.
I was meaning its always the civic owners who try to do shit like this. They see something that someone else has been doing for a long time (like old beetle owners did to rat rods), and try to do it to their cars.
I will agree with the OP tho, this probably will be the new ricer trend.

as far as the trend goes, all the people i know that have done this have done it to spare parts that they have...the people that dont, are just dumbfucks...i love it because it seems to piss off so many people :keke:
What's retarded is that a lot of these dudes only do the hood. Yay I got fresh paint and 3 coats of Meguiars on the rest of the car but my hood looks rusted as fuck. At least rat rods are consistent.

Actually, the rusted body panels/whole body rust thing and the hoodride barn find look with entire car patina came from different sources.
At least in the VW world.
All of the dumbasses with otherwise normal late model VWs with a rusty panel or two are copying a few cars in Europe, that got brought out a good while ago. A few dudes on the euro show circuit had talready fucked up A1 GTIs that were stripped and sprayed with brine solution to rust the whole body evenly, add coilovers and nice wheels, and they were a hit on the show circuit.
The other side of the watercooled VW scene, which is more like hoodride (http://img59.exs.cx/img59/8969/hoodride5.jpg) , kinda formed from ratrod influences and the ratstylez cars, which were by and large fucking lame.
A lot of the other cars with entire car patina are definately copping the rat rod style, which came to VWs from aircooled VWs, which are actually old and look cool that way.
Not when people paint on patina on otherwise clean cars instead of driving a car as is and keeping it original and intact. Hoodride style cars rock if it's saving something that would otherwise be a parts car.
It's annoying as fuck, H20 VW heads copying aircooled style, then they tell their friends, and they tell their friends, and they tell their friends.
And then we end up with fucking Focuses driving around with rusty hoods and guys with SOHC Del Sols with 13" steelies and peeling rattlecan paint bragging about patina.
It's especially annoying since I'm an ex VW dork and Focus owner.
but, that's just my :2c:, I'm sure a lot of these guys just dig stuff they've seen on other cars and tried to spin some of that into their project, and I can't really be against that unless they're really permanently ruining a rare car.

When I saw this in the eurotrash thread, I though one of two things right away.....
One,
I hate this, but some guys like this stuff, so whatever, it will just make nice cars look nicer.
two,
This will probably become the next scene thing to do to your car, and sure enough the honda kids are eating this shit up.
I personally think it looks like ass, ( with the exception of the one black e30, that hood looks actually designed like they put thought into it like it was rusty art, plus those cars are cheap anyway so I could car less) I doubt you would see this on a serious car like a m3. Which means I think this is a joke.
Also I find it ironic that the number one bs line that comes out of euro tuners mouths when I ask them why do they like Euros " because they have status and are more expensive and more sophisticated, much more grown up." Because rust does not equal sophistication, and I don't think having your car look like you dont take care of it is grown up. It would be like buying designer jeans only to piss and shit on them to look different.
But to each his own, and now I am waiting on a boso Cresida to rust there hood.

See this won't make the cross over into Nissans, unless someone can make a SPARKLE RUST VINYL. Then it's all over.

i think im gonna collect some random car hoods and then rust them and then sell them to ricers for profit.

this trend is complete failure. some of them look "ok" but in my opinion would look much better not rusty.
the rust should be saved for rat rods, those are the only vehicles meant to be rusty.

Cool, I want a car like that, but instead of cutting it up into a rod, I would just want to put some cool wheels on it and make it balleur.
vw are pieces of shit anyway. i know cause i own one. having to replace fucking light bulbs weekly and having your e brake play peek-a-boo with you is so much fun. Rusted hood fad only add to my perception. i guess people like the shit brown look.

Interesting....

DIP.
DIP.
DIP.
That's the name for non-VIP platforms made to look cool, such as S-chassis on balleur wheels.
