had the oil light come on yesterday. Now I'm getting a rapid tapping from the top end when I started it up today.

Need some help diagnosing my problem here. Is it the oil pump?

Just had oil changed last week, double checked with them that nothing was fucked up.

probably your oil pump. i went through several in my KA-E because i used to drive hard in the canyons and the oil would slush away from the pump.

your lifters will self-bleed but its a good idea to change the pump. not expensive and fairly easy to do

Buy an oil pressure gauge.

And upon checking everything out after jacking the car up, my oil pan has a major dent in it.

having some issues pulling the oil pan. I've got everything unbolted except for one of the 12mm bolt on the inside on the passenger's side. Its torqued down so tight my wrench just rounds it off, and I can't get a socket in there. Anyone found an easy way to get that?

Unbolt the engine mounts and jack up under the transmission bell housing where it bolts to the engine. Only way you're going to get the pan around the cross member also.
