hi, is anyone here ever had that problem? first thing i notice is, when the cold is started on a cold morning, the idle is around 600-700 rpm, and once the engine is warm, it would stumble and eventually stall, and i would floor the car but most of the time the rpms wouldn't go past 3k, it begins to feel really sluggush and the car wouldn't go anywhere. i've added a ground kit, new fuel pump, new fuel filter, and tried cleaning the throttle body
btw the car is a 1992 dohc

Are the rpm's rising quick, compared to the cars speed? If, so... maybe the clutch is at it's end. There are tests but i'm ussing one of the rubbber keyboads and they sck1

no, the clutch isn't slipping or anything, it seems like cars stressing out to rev, but something is stopping it, could it be a bad o2 sensor or maf? and last time i checked, compression test was 180 all across with 135,000 miles :/

My Guess would be MAF

2500rpm to 3krpm usually indicates a mafs problem. check the ecu for a mafs and knock codes. Clear codes, then disconnect the mafs, start car. Does it act the same? Check the ecu for a mafs code again. then clear.
How old is your oil, and trans fluid? Symptoms, sound like that sludge commercial!

alrite i'll try switching up both maf and ecu cus i got an extra of each sitting around. oil and tranny oil are both new. i never heard of this case but u think the diff can be damaged and dragging?

sounds like it could be multiple problems. when was the last time you did a tune up?

There are tests that you can perform. lifting rear wheels, disconnecting drive shaft, etc just use caution
Brakes dragging?, I really don't know where to start, but if I had to start it would be ECU diagnostic then basic tune up.

alrite i'll check all that. im also thinking the engine could be flooding with gas, cus when it stumbles on idle and is about to die, stepping on the pedal will keep it from dieing? but i'll change the maf and injectors, and put the stock fuel pump back on and see what happens.

sounds like maf and or idle air control

my car acts the same way with the maf unplugged.
runs fine cold idle for a little then sputters out and dies.
id check the maf.

I had the same kind of symptons but my problem was the engine temperature sensor. I would idle around 2k but when i gave it some throttle it would be really sluggish and always want to die. Give that a look too

ohh ok thanks for the info. was it the red coolant temp sensor? or the black one next to it? or the knock sensor?

Seems like the MAF to me dude .. its not always the sensor .. if you swap the MAF and the same thing still happens .. you might want to check the MAF wiring.
