somebody tried to break into my car, s13, and now the driver door lock wont work with the key now. itl lock, just not with the key. my question is, can i just switch the driver and passenger side locks? cuz i dont wanna have to go in and out my passenger door at night when i need to lock it. or, if i were to get a remote lock would that work? or is the lock just shit now?
thanks in advance

You can't switch the locks from side to side im pretty sure.
You should be able to have remote locks installed and you'll be fine.

Remove the door panel, which would involves removing the window controls, door handle garnish, trim pocket, and 1 bolt behind the dash. Lift the panel up and out of the way. Roll the glass up.
Look at the door handle from inside of the door. See if you can put the pieces back together. Most likely they bent or knocked loose one of the rods.
If not, you can unbolt the door handle from the inside (2 nuts) and take out the handle itself. Check the lock for operation and replace the lock cylinder if you have to.

because i havent found a locksmith yet. and i dont know how much that would cost. and, ive wanted a remote for a while now. AND, if it was possible to just switch the locks then i wouldent have to pay:)
but that is most likely what ill do after i find out prices and such, if its cheaper.

I can buy remote keyless entires at wholesale through an old employer for like $16, so you should have some place nearby that will sell you a quality piece over the counter for no more than $50-60. Rekeying a lock costs about $30 if the lock is repairable. Is the extra $30 worth it to have keyless? If so, there's your answer. If even the $30 is too much for you, you need to find a new hobby.

the 30$ to repair it isent to expensive for me lol a few people told me id be charged up the ass. but the 30$ is more then worth it i think. and the keyless is more for convenience then anything. i had been toying with the idea for a little bit now. but i found a locksmith, just gotta get ahold of him now. if the lock is broke that is, i still have to look at it. ill do that tommarow probably
thanks for all the help everybody:)
