View Full Version : What breaks the stock RB twins?

What exactly is the reason the ceramic wheels break over 400hp? is it too much heat on the ceramic wheel? detonation? or is it just the shear speed of the turbine?

Heat and the the physics of rotational kinematics...the force on the blades due to the acceleration of things that rotate.

Speed...anything more than 1 bar and theyre liable to explode.

EDIT: I see this thread is about the twins and not the RB25, I have no knowledge of the twins so I retract my statement.

Correct me if Im wrong, I thought R34 GTRs were the only ones that were prone to this?
