Check the engine ground.

Reground it with a thicker wire.

i think you mean read the resistance between the neg battery post and the body of the starter or cable from neg battery post to starter body to see if providing a ground helps.

meanwhile, the smart people are talking loose or dirty battery cables.

Bypass the starter relay. Take one more item out of the equation.

Im with projectJDM, bypass the starter relay. I had similair problem you had earlier. Would not crank at all, but knew starter and altenator works so tried "jumping" the starter, + on battery terminal to starter and it starts fine. My problem, it was the clutch relay. Hope you find out what it is.

when I had this problem first it was a bad ground - attached to the frame in the passenger side rear quarter panel. we later re-attached it to the intake side of the block.

then my body harness had a short. I couldn't trace it, so I got one from a junk car and switched it in. It fired up every time since.

good luck

there is no clutch relay. there is a clutch switch.

It's called the starter relay, but it's enabled by the clutch switch. And they regularly go bad.
